A lot of it has to do with the price of the Vita and memory cards. I know A LOT of people who are interested in the Vita who aren't huge gamers (a decent amount being casuals), but the overall price kills it for them. Also, the advertising has been pretty bad.

Well It did worse than last year and WiiU numbers arent good so i dont think vita is either(since it did much worse). It has to do with Sony not advertising the handheld and maybe just maybe some people holding out for Vita 2000 model+Vita TV!
Even though your right both WiiU+Vita cant be bragged about when they sell alot more then they usually do, cuz in reality their OMG Moments are actually just avg when you compare them to the others in sales. Ex: Vita beats 3DS in japan by about 5k-10k 3 weeks ago which looks like a major accomplishment but its not something to really boast about (considering 3DS outsells it weekly over 4:1 on avg)

Yes, i know it did better last year. But it also had 2 major releases last year with assassins creed and CoD.

Anyway i think alot of people expected more, i mean yes 5k a month ago to wat it just did looks good but it recently had a price cut that boosted sales another 4-6k a week! I still think ps4/x1 still have a major factor in it as well thoug, no money!!!

It's clear that Vita is dead. Sony was very stupid in its support for it. I'm afraid that it'll become only a companion for PS4 and it will see less game support. I hope I'm wrong.
