Forums - Sales - WiiU overtracked 40k in the UK

This was obvious for anyone who saw nintendos financials... considering where we are and how big od a deal it was then everyobe here should have. 300K on shelves was way too low

Maybe Ninty should stop wasting time in the UK? Its not even worth it.

One of the largest gaming markets isn't not worth it? How

It's like X-Box in Japan, which is also a big market.  You have to focus on where you have the best chance.  The Wii U might actually succeed in NA, but there are only so many resources, and they shouldn't be focused on more than a minimum in the UK.

Does that mean that the 900k-ish we have it at now is potentially way too high? It it overtracked in other, big countries in Europe, that is. That's a fairly large margin of error.
I can see the PS3 being overtracked by some hundred k as well in Europe, difficult to track sales in so many contries.
Selling 150k in the UK in one year is pretty bad, failing to sell 1 million in Europe after a year is downright terrible.

And people still think there is nochance of it being discontinued?

It will be discontinued or rebranded if its down YOY. It's that simple.

Like Jason Rubin said "Nintendo Is Irrelevant As A Hardware Manufacturer In The Console Business”

I said that when we got the PS4 numbers this morning, somehow it went largely ignored that time

It managed 150k in a Year with no 8th gen competition. Now that it has competition and the 7th gen systems will be getting cheaper for the mass market, things can only get worse really.

Its amazing really that they can go from Wii momentum to this.

Didn't they say 600k between PS4/XBone/WiiU?

250k PS4
150k Xbone
...leaves 200k for WiiU.

VGC has it at 190k. That is 10k room to spare.

Dunno where the 600k came from, they confirmed XB1 is ahead of it though, that's at 170k, they said WiiU is at 150k.

Honestly, I feel like the best thing Nintendo could do would be to drop the bundled gamepad and bundle the Pro controller instead, and give developers the option to release gamepad features. The top two reasons that I hear from people who say that they don't want to buy a Wii U are the high price for it's specs and the gamepad feeling awkward. Unbundling the gamepad would eliminate both of those problems in one swoop.

so, no reasons?
