Forums - Gaming - Why are some Nintendo fans so opposed to going third party?

I personally wouldn't mind being able to play all my favorite Sony exclusives on MS console but it would be bad for the industry.

MS and Sony are in direct competition in the home console business. Nintendo just doesn't compete in the same way.

Nintendo is like the Libertarian party, they don't really compete with the Republicans or Democrats but if they get enough support they will influence the platform of both parties. IE motion control gaming.

ive never bought this argument, a console is a console. So who is the Wii U competing with NOW? Because if you say they are not competing with anyone, then you would have to explain why its selling so meh, unless people just dont want it.

You answered it.

The WiiU competes with the PS4 and Xbox One the same way the libertarians compete with the Dems and GOP.   For the WiiU it competes with the PS4 and Xbone but MS and Sony are not really focused on the WiiU.  MS and Sony are much more interested in competing with each other.  The GOP and Dems don't really care about the libertarian candidate.

Then IMHO that makes the WIi U look even MORE sad and pathetic, cause you wouldnt be able to use the stiff competition angle. I still dont agree. Wii U is much closer to PS4/One in terms of game design philosophy than Wii was to PS360. Wii had very different games. Wii U not so much.

I like you and your notion original poster! I want Nintendo to be third party because they make a lot of great software, but the hardware is lacking since the N64.

The GameCube was more powerful then the other 2.

out of the three major game maker (micro, sony and nintendo)

who is more centered to gaming????? nintendo......

i think it is just healthy to have nintendo as a stand alone.. imagine all the company that nintendo could destroy in their path......

i think it is healthy that we have 3 pillars in gaming....

So THAT'S why I'm both a libertarian and a Nintendo fan! Man.. the masses tastes sure do suck, in like, all facets of life :(

Tell me, OP, how do you justify MS or Sony's continued existence in the console market?

One of them leaving is a much more compelling prospect.

I actually think they're both awful for the video game market, running their gaming divisions at a massive loss puts off other companies from getting into the industry and leaves us consumers stuck with a duopoly. In this position they've been able to fleece the consumer with pay for online, DLC and pay to play practices on full priced games and consumers haven't had a viable alternative to turn to.

But I don't care about Sony or Microsoft. I'm more just interested in why people are so against Nintendo going third party. And I'll post this again because people seem incapable of reading my posts, I'm not advocating going third party. I just want to know why people are against the idea. For me it's the more innovative control methods Nintendo consoles have.

I see. I agree fully with the bold part.

Why I'm against Nintendo going third party is that the entire philosophy that consoles used to have, with the SNES and consoles like that, would die. There needs to be a manufacturer that remembers that consoles are consoles.

If Nintendo left, I'd have no interest in console gaming what so ever, because console gaming would not be able to offer me anything worthwhile over PC gaming.

I LOVE ICELAND!

There's been alot of doom threads for Nintendo, and yes the Wii U is struggling. Also alof threads about them going 3rd party, which even given there current struggles, I cant imagine happening.

Anyway, if worst come to worst and Nintendo had to leave the console business, rather than I would rather seem them go into a partnership rather than pure 3rd party. Sony and Nintendo working together would be awesome! think of the possibilities!

PlayTendo!
Nintendo Station
PS64
WiiStation
PlayCube

or if they went with Microsoft

N-Box

Nintendo-Box
X-Tendo

Nintenbox

Nintensoft

Launch Game 'Gears of Wario'

The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.

Ernest Hemmingway

It is sooooooooooou easy!!!

The total truly answer:

Because people who want to buy a nintendo console want to play NINTENDO GAMES. Especialy if they have a microsoft console. I also buy almost only nintendo games like Pikmin 3, Super mario 3D world. Only COD BO2 and GHOST I bought, becaus its free to play online :D

Sony and Microsoft make a lot of shit to want money from us for onlnie gaming. thats shitty

Zelda - Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch.... Incredable!!!

That is all fine and Dandy. I use the N64 as an example as it was the last Nintendo console I really enjoyed playing. I have played a lot of consoles since and have decided that I will not buy their consoles for their games alone as it is not enough for me to be worth buying their hardware

The Wii U gets the Definitive Version of all the multiplatform games, if that helps.

Just about any 3rd party game U buy one of the two other companies Console's for, you can easily just play them on the Wii U instead.

Is their any 1st party PlayStation or XBox game U have interest in?

I personally think that Nintendo has this new Gen in the bag.
