I am saying that you are blind if you can't see the obvious gameplay and story telling enhancements the PS3 brought over the PS2.  Games didn't just have "Better Graphics."

The only series I can think of that has done that is Crysis...

so more power enhances story now? I get gameplay but not story and there isn't much the PS4 or Xbone can do that is drastically better than what the PS360 can gameplay wise. what more will they add? more destructible environments, draw distance, new effects?

I haven't played either of the games so I don't know but you tell me. what did they do that could not be done on previous hardware?

If on the PS2, the story telling in The Last Of Us would have massively suffered.  The Graphics of the PS3 allowed for real character expressions and emotions that just cannot be expressed on significantly weaker hardware.  The PS4 will continue this trend.

More destructable environments and sight? YEAH!  That massively changes how a game is played (See Battlefield).  Also more players in a game, bigger worlds to explore, more complex bullet systems to add depth, and the list goes on and on...

Anyone who cannot imagine the new possiblities besides graphics just lacks creativity.  Plain and simple...

you're right I lack creativity ;)

Edit: I forgot to add that adding more of the same is exactly the definition of "lacking in creativity"

Why are some Nintendo fans so opposed to going third party?

answer: Because Nintendo 3rd party market is so unstable, with very bad multiplayer support that I don't want to invest
my money in wrong console.

In the technology market as a whole, look at Apple, they had far more troubles than Nintendo is having now back in the 1990s and they were advised by many analysts and so called market experts to go software only (like licensing the Mac OS to hardware vendors like Microsoft was doing); they decided to not do that instead opting to sell hardware and software together (even if they moved smaller units with less support from other companies) in order to increase value in their brand (not putting their shiny software on dull grey boxes and Steve Jobs quipped) and avoiding fragmentation issues and competition from larger software companies; having a hardware department and software department and a closed-off non-conforming platform made the company turn-over modest profits compared to others in the industry but it gave them an advantage in terms of innovation which helped them in bringing products such as iPod and later other mobile devices which has now made them the most valuable company in the US (not sure about the rest world but they are up there); Apple's biggest profits come from their hardware (much like how Nintendo's biggest profits during the Wii and DS era came from the actual hardware itself). Moreover, companies like Microsoft and even smaller ones like Valve are now becoming more devices oriented rather only focusing on software, because they clearly see the value in this type of model. Whereas, companies like Activision Blizzard, EA, Ubisoft, and Square Enix are making deeper investments in order to stay competitive in the expensive software-only sector with smaller returns and also the lack of control over hardware it is becoming more difficult for them to create very unique experiences. This coupled with the fact that former giants like Atari and Sega have not done well in software (which I blame on audience fragmentation, the lack of resources to properly transform the company into a competitive multi-platform company, and the brain-drain that occurred after the many restructurings that took place within each respective company after the decision to go software only) makes me believe that Nintendo would be better off staying as a cautious hardware and software company.

Comparing Nintendo to Apple is very interesting but also quite appropriate. Great post. Can you also provide links about people asking Apples in the 90's to license the Mac OS to hardware vendors? It seems like an interesting read that relates to Nintendo's current situation.

Nin software is so great due to synergy with its hardware lolz, sounds like some bad corporate pr bs.

Nin games would kill on Ps4, imagine their sales on a PS2 like userbase. It be a new rise of Nin.

Most gamers started with nin, but most also moved on. I ain't buying Nin hardware for 4 or 5 or even 10 of their games. But be sure if they released em on PS4 id buy em so would countless millions of others.

it does add more of the same which is not being more creative that's my point. however if that does add to the gameplay that is a completely different thing

If Nintendo weren't creative, their franchises wouldn't have lasted as long as they have. battlefield will probably die out in a couple of years

There is nothing creative in allowing people to blow up a damn and flood an entire map?  No other game lets you do anything close to it.  On the contrary Nintendo has added almost nothing to most of its Mario franchises with the Wii U.

Nintendo WAS creative.  They made Paper Mario, Pikman, and even Mario galaxy.  Then what did the later Wii years and the Wii U bring us?

2D mario, 2D mario, Zelda remake, Star Fox Remake, Zelda remake, 3d mario... etc, etc

Tell me, OP, how do you justify MS or Sony's continued existence in the console market?

One of them leaving is a much more compelling prospect.

I LOVE ICELAND!

that's very creative lol

you don't seem to understand the word creative

have you played Mario 3D world?

btw you could blow up and flood an entire map in Zelda SS and I don't think that was very creative
