Forums - Gaming - Why are some Nintendo fans so opposed to going third party?

If Nintendo was smart they'd try to secure exclusive content for watchdogs.

we need nintendo, we need a realy different console or the industrie will crash soon. xboxone and s4 are the same. the ps4 is just a bit more powerfull. both sides dont wanna risk anything, sony cant because they are allmost broke and MS cant because they dont know how and dont want to.

Sorry, but that's one of the single dumbest questions I've ever heard someone pose in these threads.

Why don't you go ask old school Sega fans, or even old school Atari fans, why THEY had a problem with their company of choice going third party? I don't know a single Sega fan that was originally "okay" with Sega pulling up their tent and packing it in as a first party console maker. So why the hell should Nintendo fans be "okay" with it?

Honestly, there are a lot of very good reasons I could care to name. But really, I'll just save myself the time by stating that if you don't already know why most Nintendo fans don't ever want to see Nintendo stop making their own systems, then you'll never understand.

Just know that IF that day ever came (I doubt it will), when Nintendo "goes third party", it will be a very dark and sad time in gaming history.

As long as the game is 'complete' and playable, exclusive content won't affect my choice of which platform to purchase it on.

They should be more focused on getting proper gamepad support for the game. It lends itself so well to Watch_Dogs particularly, it could ery well end up the definitive version despite power differences to the PS4/XBone.

You're not the target. You already have a Wii U. It's suppose to be aimed at people thinking about getting the console.

Using the gamepad to experience the game differently/better is much more enticing than a few exclusive missions IMO. The gamepad is the point of difference for the Wii U.

Nintendo going third party is disastrous to their company at the moment. By selling software on their own hardware they don't have to pay royalties to Sony or Microsoft.

As for why i wouldn't want Nintendo on a ps4 or Xbox one? because i don't want to pay for online. I know that many Nintendo games are not online centered but, there eventually will be (smash, mario kart,x). When i have to pay monthly, i feel as if i have to play my console online or i am not getting my moneys worth. It makes online gaming a chore for me. That's why i preferred the ps3 over Xbox last gen.

8th generation=6th generation

Id actually be more than happy if all companies just made games on one platform, I don't even care which platform it is. I just want to spend more money on games and less on hardware.

Look at Sega and you'll have your answer.

Nintendo is like Apple. Their software and hardware are nicely integrated and because of that, software development becomes more efficient because they know they're building a game for a specific piece of hardware. Also, they can fully take advantage of the hardware because they aren't having to choose the lowest common denominator in order to take advantage of multiple machines. Using Sega as an example, look what happened to them when they had to go from focusing on one piece of hardware to multiple pieces of hardware that were radically different from one another. Their games suffered because of it. The same thing would happen to Nintendo.

Unlike Apple however where software is made to take advantage of the hardware, the opposite is true for Nintendo. The hardware is designed around the kind of games they wanted to make. The Nintendo 64 controller for example was made to play Super Mario 64. Aside linking hardware and software, there's also a cultural aspect of hardware design. It's part of Nintendo's company culture to build hardware for their games. To take that away would radically alter the company and not in a good way. Again, look at Sega. They were by nature an arcade company. Building their own hardware was their business. It was their culture. Yuji Naka even once said that he was less excited about game development at Sega because it wasn't on their hardware, even though he was also a huge fan of the GameCube.

Sony and Microsoft are different. Their game systems appeal mainly to third parties, companies who always make one game for multiple game systems. They build hardware, treat games as the main feature out of many features, then say "put some games on this thing". They don't really come up with game concepts and then say "let's build hardware that can support this". That's what makes Nintendo unique and it's why the industry still needs them.

Speaking of gamepas I hope the pro controller is support in case the main gamepad is useless.
