Forums - Nintendo - What are your thoughts on Nintendo's Current Virtual Console on Wii U...?

Conspiracy theory: Nintendo doesn't want to release too many VC games lest gamers realize how much better the old Nintendo games are compared to the new ones (though in all fairness, even new Nintendo games are 100x better than most of the junk coming out on PS360/PS4)

Don't forget that by accessing your Wii menu on Wii U then going to the Wii Shop there are a ton of retro games, including heaps of N64 titles. This will help you out a lot.
I totally agree on GameCube titles though - Nintendo should do this asap. Storage won't be an issue as nearly all GC games are under 1GB.

It's very disappointing so far. I had expected Wii U's VC to continue from where Wii VC left off, not start from scratch again. -_-

This.

On another note, I'm still trying to figure out why on earth GBA games aren't on the 3DS VC yet. I'd feel better about buying games from SMAS individually that way.

I like the focus on SNES titles. I LOVE that they have Earthbound out. Honestly, I couldn't care less about GameCube or N64. I would much rather see all of the RPGs and Platformers from the SNES.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I haven't even done the Wii transfer yet due to the WiiU VC... was waiting until they offerered at least the Mega Drive as an upgrade option before doing that or at least if they fixed the Gamepad to play Wii content... Still waiting!!!

Even got 2000 Wii points waiting to decide where to spend it, if SNES or future compatible MD games... had an eye on a few WW games but those would never work on the Gamepad - only the VC titles have an upgrade possibility.

Mate..... I will take a deep breath.....

Your Wii points carry over and so do all your VC and Wii Ware games if you system transfer. You can play the old games on the TV as you have in the past

but you can now (with the latest system update) play them on the Gamepad only..... You lose nothing to make the switch now!

It has EarthBound, so it's good enough for me.

It's terrible. Imagine what the Wii U Virtual Console could be:

- More save states through multiple user accounts
- Online play added to formerly local multiplayer games (Super Mario Kart!) and online leader boards (Starfox)
- Huge selection of classic Nintendo titles
- Inclusion of Gamecube and Dreamcast games
- Arcade versions (again, Mario Kart! F-Zero AX!)
- Remix versions of classic titles (Ocarina of Time Master Quest, beta stuff)

But Nintendo totally doesn't want to put any energy into this. They also refuse to drop the prices of the games. Some early NES games should be sold for 2$ or so. And they could have this huge output of games but they decided to let one lone person program all the VC games so they put up like 1 game per week.
Yeah, I'm sorely disappointed. The VC was one of the most important features to me.

This post sums it up perfectly. I've not bought a Wii U simply because the account system is tied to the system, which makes buying digital games a gamble. The VC which could be an itunes of gaming greatness is ignored. And the games just don't appeal to me and the gamepad is not a controller I feel comfortable with.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

While its growing at a much slower rate than I anticipated, there are plenty of good games to be played.

I think its largely waiting for 3DS merger in eShop and unified NNID before it ramps up.

Hopefully Nintendo is making VC a bit more agnostic to hardware so it can easily be moved between new consoles and maybe even co-owned between your home/portable console.

Well I'm sure many have said it's terrible without having to read the whole thread. If they are going to release one game per week (roughly), then at least avoid crap like Clu Clu Land and put out the good games. At any rate, I'm not buying anymore Virtual Console games until cross play/purchase happens and accounts happen.
