Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft "Forza 5 wouldn't have been 1080p, 60fps without access to Xbox One's cloud"

The cloud takes care of all the online functionality, so that it gave them more time to work on getting the game into that 1080p/60fps marker. It doesnt seem that hard to understand? I dont see why people are so confused/outraged.

Asked to clarify that Turn 10's ready access to the cloud has allowed it to spend more time improving Forza 5's resolution and physics, Greenawalt responded: "Right. And that's what's allowed us to, in three years, have a game that has innovation like Drivatar, looks beautiful as well as having the new things we're doing in physics, like the tyres and suspension."

I really dont see the problem?

Other racer was developed in 3 years with 6x more cars and 3x more circuits... and without the power of the clouds.

Without Cloud the game would be 1079p59fps... the power of the cloud make it round.

So this is a bad news, if you're not online, the game fall to 30fps ?

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Dont give a shit. Thread is about how the cloud has helped them spend more time reaching 1080p/60fps.

The cloud and features within said cloud have helped them. Its helped them focus less on the online functionality, because they just use the cloud instead of building it from the ground up. Its given them more time to get different things sorted.

Hes saying that its thanks to the servers they have been able to spend longer optimizing the game itself rather than building server stuff from the ground up.

Am I the only person to read the actual OP?

I have read... but my answer was for your post and their part saying that their game was just possible in the timeframe because of the cloud... but even so they have slautered their content...

Hey, thats their vision. If they think having 1080p and 60fps is more important than a few more cars or tracks then its up to them, but nothing he said in that interview is bullshit.

Its actually quite enlightening on how the 1st party devs (and 3rd party?) will be using the cloud in the future. Having to spend less time on online infrastructure and more time on engine optimization can only be a good thing.

Here's the thing though, would microsoft be stupid enough to spend a hundred million dollars to just improve one game free of charge just so they can have bragging rights while also making a loss ? Absolutely not! 1080p60fps was possible without the cloud. What turn 10 did was a PR stunt.

Eh? Is this the only game in development for Xbox One thats going to be using the cloud?

And of course 1080p and 60fps would be possible without the cloud, nobody has said otherwise. Whats being said is that thanks to the cloud doing what it does for the online infrastructure, they didnt have to do all that work. It freed up people to work on other things like optimization. Think of it this way, to get the exact same title without the cloud they would have had to build it from the ground up... Instead of the Forza 5 that will be releasing, there would have been a Forza 5 at 720p/60fps or a Forza 5 at 1080p/30fps or whatever.

@Bold Forza 5's resolution, framerate, and graphics would be NOOOOO different without the cloud. Everything would essentially remain the same without the cloud! Unless microsoft is willing to take a big loss for forza 5 I doubt that the cloud is rendering a part of forza 5.

Yeah and that said racer as cars with PS2 visuals and tracks as well. And thats after 7 years with the same engine.
