Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft "Forza 5 wouldn't have been 1080p, 60fps without access to Xbox One's cloud"

This has so many holes in it. First, as others have pointed out, the cloud is not enhancing the graphics or resolution of the real time game or the result of that would be the game should look worse if you played off line. That would cause quite a storm.

Second, if we conclude the cloud processing merely saved time in developing the game and allowed more resources to be allocated to developing the game engine, then:

1. Its just a case of this being a development methodology.
2. Its just a way of saying we had access to real powerful computational aids of which I can see why a lot of other developers probably have alternative solutions.
3. Its just a way of having a smaller development team because they have a source some other development teams don't have access to.

So basically this is more FUD.

So what happen if you play offline??

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

LOL WOW! Are they serious? All they said was literally "Fuck, our graphics would have suffered if we had to work more on the online code but thanks to the library already in the standard SDK for us to use for the net code that pretty much comes with any console SDK. The magic of the fucking cloud enabled us to run the game at 1080p." WHAT!?!?!?!?!

If the guy said that instead of what he said then it will be easy without any confusion.

PS4 can do 1080p/60fps without access to the cloud... just trolling.

I know that microsoft hasn't being the best so far when it comes to competing but cloud rendering actually works. (Onlive anyone ?)

It could be a PR stunt and microsoft just decided to not include hundred million dollar servers to render a part of the game LOL.

Makes it sound like they had their graphics programers working on online infrastructure before, that would be so silly lol.

"The cloud" ain't doing shit for the resolution of the damn game. Come on, having ready made server infrastructure doesn't have any impact on what their graphics programers and artists were doing. Downloading AI profiles from the net also doesn't have any impact on the local performance impact, and if anything there would be a tiny overhead for the collecting of the driver data.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

So what would happen if you don't have internet ? the game will be 720p since you don't have the power of the cloud ? or is it even going to play ?, meanwhile Driveclub is already 1080p , full effects, lightning, physics all push by the PS4 hardware, hell even Cerny told they can use the clout too, but they investigate further and they realize is not ideal for performance in general so thats why is not implemented.

Still I will hold my final judgment for Forza and wait for the console to be release, not going to buy it just want to know.

so microsoft is admitting that the xbox one is actually under powered and cant do 1080p @60FPS by its self?  or are they saying the power of the magical cloud makes it possible when it was already possible?

but you know, the game runs offline.... so........ ya... something doesnt really add up there now does it microsoft?
