Forums - Microsoft - Dead Rising 3 runs at 720p and 30 fps on Xbox One, UI runs at native 1080p

@joe the bro -- congrats for your research skill. Heres your first class PHD lol. You just fullfilled on aspect which was tonnes on enemies. Heavenly sword is not an open worl ,, just have huge raw distance and still Dead rising has tonnes of enemies. Plus i ask for a ps4 game as peopel are dissing the xbox one power. Since you haven't found one yet ,, you admitted defeat :P

Tablets won't be matching consoles anytime soon because they have to meet a strict power requirement and much less for a smartphone. This generation is gonna be long because PCs are going to have issues about the latest state of the art technology. Each time that is spent to manufacture smaller transistors gets longer and longer therefore process node transitions are going to get longer and in total the high tech industry won't be brining out more powerful parts anytime soon. BTW the most powerful tablet comes in at around less than 100 gflops!

Well. The CPU's in tablets will quickly surpass the next generation consoles, Jaguar to put blunty is crap.
Ram will catch up soon enough, even if it is only Low-powered DDR4.

GPU's however are power hogs in comparison, so I doubt we will see them match the Radeon 7000's in the next gen twins for many years to come. (Unless Microsoft drops in an Optimus set-up in Surface one day.)

Good luck playing Nintendo or Sony 1st parties on it though... and this is the main reason I buy console (to play sony games).

All platforms have exclusives, for instance, good luck playing PC or Xbox exclusives on your Playstation.
The difference is the PC and by extension x86 tablets running Windows is bound to get all of Sony's exclusives eventually.

Still, the only reason you should buy a Playstation or an Xbox or a PC or a Wii is for games that suits your tastes in games and not because everyone else dislikes/likes  something.

Haven't listed MS exclusives because they have the OS on Pc and a lot of their exclusives are already there, to transition to a tablet with ms os would be simple... Don'tthink Nintendo or sony would put their 1st parties of the same generation on tablets.

To define what you want and then declare win ia easy... Show me a Xbox game with 1197 cars on it...So PS3 is next-next-next gen since Forza 5 have just  around 200-300 cars.

I'm sorry, but can you highlight the spot in your post saying it had to be open world?

Thank god the UI runs at native 1080p.

True dat!  Though, I wonder what was the point of even putting the UI at a different resolution.

I actually have a very wild theory:

- the menus are 1080p because it has the infinite power of the cloud behind them.

because they thought the game was going to be 1080p too.

It is near the end of the end....

I'm getting more and more disoppointed in next gen graphics.

How can this be? Most games are made on last gen engines or at least they look so (Battelfield 4), and yet they cant run 1080p.

I think we were simply spoiled current gen.

I mean, last launch were offered beasts that cost twice the retail price to produce...

Spot on. They were truly beastly machines.

When current gen launched it was amazing graphics. Oblivion, Gears of War, DMC4 looked almost unbelievable compared to PS2 games. This time multiplats look like current gen, only with sharper textures. And sometimes they're not even in a higher res, they're not even 1080p.

I do think The Division and some other games look very very good (and it remains to be seen how it looks on console once it's out in the shops), but in general I feel like next gen games are graphically on par with graphics on fairly cheap PCs.

I agree totally with the bolded.  These systems are underpowered.  The real problem for both systems longevity is that the tablet/phone market has been doubling or tripling their power every year or less.  If these consoles are going to last 7+ years, smartphones will have eclipsed them by then.  This generation will be much shorter(4-5 yrs) due to the way under powered systems.  Even the PS4 is too weak.  What is more than likely to happen is that game designers/publishers will limit their games dramatically in 2-3 years because they won't want to waste resources for just the PC market.  3-4 years from now, there will be a number of tablets with processors and GPU's that rival the XB1/PS4.  Where will that leave the consoles?  Why buy a console when the same games will be playable from a tablet that you can take anywhere?  Sony/M$ didn't build this next gen with future proof in mind at all.

When phones and tablets manage to get the gaming form factor right, maybe they'll become a threat to home consoles. The way they are now, I don't see those platform as viable for "serious" gaming. Certainly not for blockbuster type games or other AAA franchises.

Why exactly do think that Sony is going to give up first party exclusives like Uncharted, God of War, or Infamous to Windows based platforms like PC's?  I'm seriously really curious on your logic behind that?  It hasn't happened in the past, why now?

First party Sony games run it's devision.  Are you trying to state Sony will go under, cause I don't think so personally.  Or are you speaking of illegal roms and emulation?

What about Surface pro?  I am running almost everything I can download off of steam on it.  It's a tablet.  From Surface pro 1 to Surface Pro 2 there was a significant power increase.  The new A7 chip in the Ipad Air is pretty powerful.  These are specs for 2013.  Next year when those spead double again and the size shrinks again, they will be getting close in basic processing power.  The next logical step for these devices is a more robust GPU.  Once they go that route, it won't be hard to match the XB1/PS4.

OOOPS my mistake. (I guess haven't being following the the portable hardware for very long.) I guess you could say that the surface PRO 2 is decent for the form factor but it barely outs consoles that output around 300 gflops while the intel hd 4400 brings about 50 more glfops in floating point performance. The new A7 just has 1 more powerVR graphics core than the A6. -_- The speed will only double when an application scales well. Actually I wouldn't expect too much from the speed part because having twice the transistors does not exactly mean that a processing component will perform twice as fast. It will be hard for portables to match consoles because you don't realize that they need to have strict power requirements. Die shrinks will usually increase the perofrmance of a GPU by roughly 50% and not double in power as thought. BTW intel hasn't even solved the issues of of trying to imlement process nodes that are smaller than 10nm.
