How important is resolution? (TV, ranging from 720 to 1080)

Essential. 1080p vs 720p is huge. 172 42.68%

Important. Resolution over effects. 44 10.92%

It's a minor plus, I rat... 128 31.76%

Non-issue, I don't see a difference. 58 14.39%

Total:402

It bugs me that they charge me full price for something that was cheaper for them to develop since the technology they used is old.

If them cheaping out on this means they'll make a better gameplay then I'm good. Thing is, that is rarely the case.

What's the point of purchasing a newer system if the games I'm gonna play are the same? Seems like they're taking my 300-400 bucks so they can keep selling me the same thing, but re-branded as new. Makes no sense.

That said, I've been playing 10 years old RPGs, so I'm clearly not a person that "demands" cutting edge graphics just for the sake of it. But I won't let them take my moneys that easily.

Resolution is quite important to most, be it hardcore or casual. Gamers or not. Why else do you think people wanted to go from SD to HD?

Very important for me. After playing games on my PC at 1080p it was hard going back to PS3/360. Irrespective of where I'm sitting or the size of my TV.

It becomes even more important when you are gaming on a native 1080p screen, 720p looks like utter shit on a 1080p TV.

The difference is like night and day. Anybody who says otherwise is either fooling themselves or they haven't experienced it in real life.

Theres not a single PC gamer out there that will turn down resolution over any other graphical feature.

Native resolution is the absolute last thing you muck around with. Fact.

I don't like doing resolutions, since I never can stick to them. Dunno why.

its a plus but id rather have better effects (in some cases)
certain genres which are not too intensive like fighting and racing games should look awesome even at 1080p.
In action games and open world games its ok to sacrifice 1080p for better graphical effects and im sure games like the next GTA and elder scrolls will (i predict 720p30 for these)

Uhmm I could only think of 240 reasons, then it must not be very important for me. :p

3D does way more better during same point of life spam.

HD TVs had a 50 year gap between them and Color TVs, but 3D TVs only had a few years gap aft HD TVs, and still outsold HD, like it was nothing.

FYI http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=173039 how do you like them apples.

I'm fine with 720p. While 1080p is preferred, I just don't notice a significant enough difference.

I prefer developers focus on 60fps over resolutions higher than 720p.
