Honestly, I really think that Mia, Maya and Pearl are Asian because their last name is Fey.  Fey sounds like an Asian last name, on top of which they come from a village called "Kurain"which also sounds Asian.  To top it all off, the rooms you investigate when you're in their village have a LOT of Japanese stuff in it.  

Right, I agree, they're almost certainly Japanese in decent, but their skin color is more white than anything else.

It's the same way that Jinxie is white but lives in a village influenced by Japanese culture.

Asians can have white skin color, though.  Also, I think that the localization process is what made it seem like the Kurain village is white people with Japanese influence, but it is much more that in the original that it's a traditional village within Japan.  Maybe the same way with the example you used.  Of course, because of the way they look, you can start questioning on what even "white" means, because there isn't really such thing as distinct different "races" for humans anyway.  At least not biologically.

True, but in the Japanese versions everyone's from Japan to begin with. Japanese media makes everyone white for some reason.

I played the DLC and I liked it. I loved how the judge was almost begging for the orca to be a witness cause that's how a lot of Phoenix's cases go and it was to be expected.
