I'm currently replaying that case right now, and I agree. It's the weakest case in the game (for that exact reason), but it does play an important part in the broader narrative by fleshing out Gavin's character. It breaks the tradition of the third case never being utterly relevant to the overarching plot, I'd say.

And yes, Trucy is more than deserving of her assistant duties. The stunt she pulls in case 2 is simply classic.

And she has magic panties.

What is the meaning of these panties

4-1 is one of the best cases in the whole Ace Attorney saga. Not only it is the longest first case (I think), but also the most twisted one. 3-1 comes pretty close.

Shall we take nominations for, say, a poll to decide which case is the best in the series?

Obviously the answer would be 3-5, but still.

I agree. 3-5 is just epic. Only 1-6 comes close to that, in my opinion.

Objection!

The first game only has five cases. But yes, the final case was brilliant.

And the introduction of my Ace Attorney waifu, Ms. Lab Coat.

Fuck my typo.Yeah, it were only five cases. Did you know that on the original Game Boy version, the fifth case was sold separately? (They had the balls to do the same with the Wii version)

Yep.

Capcom will be Capcom.

Ugh, I just took a 15min drive to the store, only to find out this game is digital-only. I'm so out of the loop.

This is the only thing I thought it could confort you.

I recently saw a "plot twist" in the third case that blown my mind away. I don't think I can recover.

If you thought the twist in the third case was mind blowing, prepare to have your entire body blown by the twist in the fourth case.

One hell of a set up for the grand finale. Should have final thoughts on the game up within the next couple of days.

Fucking homework, it's preventing me playing this game. So far I'm at the middle of the third trial.

Here are my impressions so far:

· Beautiful graphics, honestly. And 3D works perfectly.

- TOO MUCH HAND HOLDING.

· Cases are pretty long, and they're totally awesome. This game still has soul.

- NO EXPLORING WHEREVER YOU WANT.

Perhaps it's just me, but I think the game is arguably just as difficult as the original Ace Attorney. It's just that by now, we've gotten so used to Ace Attorney's crazy antics that we're rarely surprised by any major development that the character's figured out.

Spoilers involving Case 3's ending below:

For example, when Athena has to prove that Dr. Courte's body was hid inside of the Wright Statue, it was actually one of the first things I thought of, and using Dr. Mean's staff to pose as Phoenix's finger was up there as a first reaction as well. Since this is the sixth Ace Attorney game I've played (and it almost counts as the seventh, as I watched an English translation of GK2 and some of its craziness), I'm expecting something as off the wall as that, whereas if this had been my first Ace Attorney game, I'm sure I would have struggled with it heavily. We're all just so used to how crazy Ace Attorney games can get, so it's not that it's substantially easier, but just that we're much better at guessing the curveball that it will throw.

Another example is Case 1, in Ted Tonate's testimony, where you have to make the connection between the writing on the ground and the bomb case. I honestly wouldn't have guessed that the two were related at all, except another case in the past pulled something similar, and I ran with that on a hunch. Turned out to be right, but it isn't anything I would have gotten were it not for past Ace Attorney experience.

I will agree that the lack of being able to examine everything is a bit of a disappointment. It's a minor disappointment, I suppose, but honestly, examining every random thing made up a good portion of the replay value for me. I was actually looking forward to hearing Phoenix's comments on his old beanie, but I guess that's all for naught. I hope AA6 changes this back to the way it was.

...and while we're at it, I still want to know why presenting profiles hasn't been a thing since T&T.

At any rate, I'm...somewhere on Case 5. It's really hard to gauge how far I am through anything at this point, because the game veers really far away from standard structure in Case 4 and (at least, at this point) hasn't gotten back to it. The story it's told so far has been absolutely incredible, though, and it's one of those things where you think you see what's coming ahead of time, but it still manages to surprise you nonetheless.

Looks like it's going to be coming to one hell of a conclusion, so I guess I'll wrap things up and give my thoughts at the end.
