Not saying it will break any records but 300k is it just the first week? lets wait couple of months before we call it a flop

Advertising evidence is always anecdotal based on where you live and what media you consume. I've seen a few TV ads for Beyond, on Comedy Central, i think. |
Glad to see finally see someone acknowledge this, although TV is still the most effective form of advertisement. I watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report online, however, and I've seen the ad for B2S a billion times now.

Seems like everyone is ignoring this. That game better have some strong legs.

talk about putting a foot in your mouth, within the same post...
Heavy Rain sold 194,468 in it's first week. Beyond is an improvement.
Hell.. no... the biggest flop of the year, no doubt, is Rayman Legends

Well I'll preface this next post with the idea that I know I have too much time on my hands. Thank you for picking a specific example, it finally got me to look at it closely, and I even made a graph for giggles. Below is a graph comparing the 360's NA install base at the time of launch to total Madden Sales.
As you can see you could probably extrapolate linearity to some degree from launch until maybe about 5 million sales, after that it quickly tops off even out to 35m NA install base. So yes you can say that WiiU could have sold more games if it had a higher install base, but only until a certain point and then it'll be entirely pointless, the fanbase has been established and adding more random users will not do anything for the sales of the game. |
Love the graph! I think it illustrates the point very well. I think it also illustrates the need for systems (I'm looking at you Wii U, Vita) to get to a certain userbase as quickly as possible. Those 10, 20, 30+ million users are really key levels to sell enough games to make money.

Yep as you said, revenue. Sony gets 57% of the revenue. Subtract development and marketing costs and Heavy Rain made maybe €15-20m profit.
Beyond surely need to sell ~2m to become profitable.
(btw last number we know was "over $100m")

Rayman Legends at least did 23k on all platforms...
Fuse did 11k on PS3 and 360...
Fuse flopped even harder because no one seems to remember the damn game!
"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"
The game needs including marketing+distribution is around 30-35 million dollars. So with a million in sales within 2 months they would be happy I think. Next week it would probably reach 450k since it launched in Japan with fairly positive sales and I think it will still sell well in during the next few weeks.
KZ:M did pretty bad despite me loving the game so much. I think it did 150k until now incl. digital sales. I hoped that it would do 500k within a few months. Silly me :p
