Forums - Gaming - This trailer right here expresses exactly why the jump from current gen to next gen is large enough

There is no question there is a leap in graphics. The question is does it warrant a purchase for the current offerings? For some - yes for others - no. I personally fall into the latter since I'm not singularly impressed by visuals enough to purchase a system for a game. I also have a PS3 so I can play all the games I want for the next couple of years. It remains to be seen which boat the mainstream audience will fall into though.

Great trailer though.

For annualized gamers there is a great reason to jump ship. For fans who like console exclusives, its not just that time yet, but you know the hardcore are going to lead the pack anyway because they have to get their hands on new hardware. Multiplats are generally the console sellers in the beginning.

His reasons could be different than yours.

I don't think eyes have reasons.

He said it still looks like shit to him, that can mean many things either going from what he percieves to be a massive leap or from a PC gamer perspective where they are used to max settings on most games.

Well, I don't play sports games, but they are definitely not known for their awesome graphics, they all look shitty to me. We are a long way off from making these kinds of games look good enough because these actually require real life like graphics representing humans in a way where the uncanny valley effect won't kick in. Even my PC can't do it, so, it's just gonna be shitty for a long time.

Question is what does it look like in game?

pre-rendered cut scenese do look good though, nothing better then FFXIII

That's not gameplay. Failed point.

Personally I feel the jump from current to next gen is relatively small. I'm already looking forward to next next gen.

I'm in agony. I'm thinking if I should go back to PC to be able to enjoy better graphics. PS4 doesn't satisfy me enuff. I want to enjoy the multiplats in full glory and all effects on maximum.

why no gameplay footage? what's there to hide?

The uncanney Valley will show itself after about three years. Thats when third parties will have figured everything out. I see the massive attention to detail already even through the third parties aren't pushing the consoles. If you need a reference to my point go back to David Cages evolution video from current gen to next gen possibilities for graphics when the PS4 was unveiled.

Those arent cut scenes. Those are in game shots. Its going to be years before the consoles are pushed as well by third party. First and second party will push the consoles faster.

I agree, because

1. It says so in the trailer

2. At one point the beard of that one guy (don't know anything about basketball) goes through his jersey, if the whole thing was prerendered I'm sure that they would have made sure that this didn't happen.

I think the problem is Youtube. Yes it looks better when comparing videos, but I'm sure the difference will have to be seen without compression to be really noticeable.

Also because those are most of the character reactions and taunts to plays as well as the dunking. Its going to get to borderline photorealism before the gen after next. Heh
