I take the future into account, I talk about announcement, not released games. But beyond that it all gets very unclear. There was a time, that Nintendo-fans clearly expected the next Final Fantasy will be on the next Nintendo-system. things do not always turn out as we expect them to do. Even relying on announced games is a bit risky. Look at The Last Guardian. Or not that drastic: look at the 'launch-window-games for WiiU': Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, WiiFitU - all were late. Nearly a year after launch is not launch-window. So our  expectation can be wrong, even on announced games. You want me to rely on future unannounced games?

I don't want you to rely on anything.  This was about another user who clearly stated that he is interested in games coming from top tier developers like R*.

You then made the point that no games exist yet, but that is not taking into account the obvious fact that they wil exist.  Now if that is the basis for his decision on which console t buy.  He should buy the console which has the most likely chance of those games releasing for it.  Whether you want to admit it or not his best choice is to go with a PS4 or XB1 with this criteria, as those consoles are almost guaranteed to have those games.

Could the WiiU have them as well?, sure.  Could they not come out for the PS4 and XB1?, its possible.  However in this situtation we must look at what is most likely to happen because we don't know.  Once again this is his criteria, not mine or yours.

You don't understand my argument. I specifically mentioned The Last Guardian. Yes, maybe there will somtimes a new game from R* or Bethesda for PS4 or XBO. But it could take years. The OP was talking about this holiday, so the console might gather dust until then, if your target is really the next game of R* or Bethesda. Also we don't know anything about unannounced games. It might be genre you don't like or the quality might be bad. R* or Bethesda could also go full PC and/or Steam-machine omitting PS4 and/or XBO completely. Say one of the two consoles skyrocket in sales, the other makes WiiU-like numbers. For simplicity let's say XBO is successful, PS4 not (could be other way around or something completely different). In three years may come the next R*-game and based on the userbase they decide only to support XBO. But you bought on launch the PS4 on the possibility to get the next R*-game.

I answered someone, who specifically said, he wants the next Bethesda/R*-game. But at the moment that are too muchuncertainty about this, to buy a console based on this. It's something different if you say you buy it for Killzone or Titanfall. We know enough about these games, we have a feeling how they will turn out in quality and if they are something we can have fun with or not. We don't know enough about the next games of Bethesda/R*.

Ring of Dead and Ylod are more than enough to ignore both, MS ond Sony consoles for the next years. The boring and same lineup + cross-gen for the new twins for the next years isn´t actually enticing either.

The problem is that there's absolutely nothing that interests me in the Wii U exclusives. Too kiddy, too casual, as per usual with Nintendo. Being a Mario-head is the only way to justify that console.

Too kiddy as in not enough blood and guts ?

hardcore ? Christ ! Ryse´s A for awesome is hardcore and the Wonderful 101´s super deep battle system isn´t ?

lol im not sure if this is actually a serious topic.
"Take a look at retail exclusives by the end of the year. I think it's obvious who wins."
The fact that you have to compare a years of exclusives of the wiiU which launched ages ago to a couple of months exclusives on the PS4 which isnt even released yet, says it all.
every nintendo developer has had enough time to release an exlucisve for the wiiU, you cant say the same about the PS4. tons of developers still havent announced what their making for PS4 so if you cant wait, then go ahead and get a wiiU.

"Now let's look at price. Wii U wins again."
how? the price to hardware ratio is miles better on the PS4. the WiU is too costly for what its capable of.

"What about the multiplat games though? Everyone's a winner."
no because the wiiU gets watered down versions of multiplatforms which will look 5x better on Xb and PS just like all the multiplatforms did on wii/x360/ps3.
and the online services (XBL/PSN) is better than what nintendo are offering.

"So if you are planning to buy a PS4 or XBONE at launch, why aren't you getting a Wii U instead?"
because I'd rather finish all the PS3 games I have left until I get a PS4.

other reasons why I'd get the PS4
- I dont have to play a game using a brick as a controller, which thanks to nintendo I dont have to pay extra for....but I do have to pay extra for a wii U 'pro' controller (I wonder why they called it 'pro'... hmmmm...)
- third party developers wont avoid it for being too weak like the wii U
- sony wont leave the generation early and launch a weak next gen console like nintendo definately will.
- When PS5 does comes out, PS4 will still be supported
- playstation plus

I like third party games and am a graphics whore 4 life. Tequila and winning hockey games rule! Bless Friday!

Why do people always jump to this conclusion when someone says something is "too kiddy"?

Is it that hard to believe that the light hearted style of Nintendo games just isn't for everyone? Maybe he just isn't a fan of cartoon style platformers.

Now let's look at price. Wii U wins again.

Wii U PS4 XBONE

What about the multiplat games though? Everyone's a winner.

Game Wii U PS4 XBONE
Call of Duty Ghosts X X X
Assassin's Creed 4 X X X

Batman Arkham Origins X***

But what about the graphics?

Wii U PS4 XBONE

Great graphics
A lot better than current gen

Great Graphics
A lot better than current gen

Great Graphics
A lot better than current gen

Factor in the Wii U gamepad being included at no additional cost, and the Wii U is by far the best buy this holiday.

So if you are planning to buy a PS4 or XBONE at launch, why aren't you getting a Wii U instead?

*Also available on 3DS

**Remake

***Lacking multiplayer

Because I want next gen features and a console that will last 4 years...not one where people are asking if it will last 6 months.

Also to say that the WiiU has next gen graphics is a flat out lie and you know it. It does not support all dx 11 features and the memory pool is too small to be next gen.

Because obvious no 3rd party support. You're forgetting one important thing : people purchase gaming systems to play for several years, not just for the holidays.

Is it that hard to believe that the light hearted style of Nintendo games just isn't for everyone? Maybe he just isn't a fan of cartoon style platformers.

'Light hearted style' and 'too kiddy' are very different descriptions. It's not hard to believe someone does not enjoy this particular style, but calling it kiddy and casual is not the proper description.

OT: I think it's a bit of a silly post. There are those who simply do not enjoy most of Nintendo's games, wether this be because of biased opinions or a genuine lack of interest in certain styles or genres. Even if the console had an unlimited supply of Nintendo games, why buy it if you don't enjoy them?

The price of the console does not matter, value is what is important. That said, the other consoles should cost more, as they have more to offer, as Xbox One with their kinect 2.0 being fully intigrated into the console. (Not that I'll ever come close to an Xbox One because I actually take the recent privacy breaches very seriously.)

As for multiplatform games, it's been the norm recently for Nintendo versions to be downgraded versions (with a few exceptions), lacking features and decreased online populations. It is more attractive at the moment to purchase multiplatform games on something other than a Nintendo console.

Graphics I must agree, they have not been important to me since the 6th generation of home consoles. That is for me the last generation where graphical power really contributed to the gameplay experience. As further advancements are being made in this department it is possible for significant changes to occur again but I very much doubt that one console will be vastly superior over another.

Including the gamepad at no additional costs is an odd statement. By this logic the PS4 comes with a new dual shock and Xbox One comes with kinect 2.0 "at no additional costs". It's included in the box because it is required to play the console, you can't buy a new Wii U without the gamepad.

All this being said, I will be buying a Wii U after another price cut or a bundle in a year or 2 as I have always enjoyed Nintendo exlusives the most and I do not have the money to purchase multiple consoles and its games. I also don't own any consoles from the previous generation so the Wii U will give me the best value.

Planning on getting one as soon as possible :) Wii U and PC for me this gen ^.^
