Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo is the most successful gamin

There was a thread with this chart a couple of years ago.
Surprised that GC and GBA made more money than PS2, that's what I call impressive.

Why is that the surprising? The two combined probably sold close to what the PS2 did in terms of software, and neither of them were sold at a loss AFAIK.

If I was Kowen, this is the point where I'd say "not surprising." Lol.

Incomplete title? What I am looking at, OP?

maybe he died when he wrote it

Look, if he was dying, he wouldn't bother to carve "Aaaaaaagh!", he'd just say it.

Not really the full story. It's their brand that has lost a lot of value instead. Instead of dipping into their savings to keep a strong market share with aggressive price cuts and marketing, they focused only on keeping out of the red.

Sony can learn a lot from Nintendo.

problem is, SONY and Microsoft for a few years here and there group their gaming divisions up. So it is hard to work out what exactly caused the loss.

Awe, it's not that hard.  The company consoles sold at a loss.

Is there any source to this table? You know, I could also make something like that, but just because it's a table doesn't mean it's for real.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

...yet, Playstation is number 1 all time in home console sales. Go figure.

Not the PS3, so that's a overstatement.

Combine all 3 generations of the Playstation sales and combine all 6 generations of Nintendo consoles sales and Playstation comes out on top. He was talking the whole brand combined into 1 number not individually. Profitability is profitability so that's all that matters.

Yeah, they are probably the most iconic one too.

Unfortunately they seem to be heading towards a slippery slop towards becoming insignificant in the home console business :(

The console alone is not what caused all the red though. Thats the point.

Their software sales are huge compared to Ninentendo in recent generations.
