I don't think I can quit gaming entirely, but I've definitely slowed down compared to previous years.

I have gone 1 to 10 months without gaming quite a few times in my life.

Not really quitting, I just game when I am less busy.

Between '05 and '06 I hardly played console games, only picking up a couple of PS2 "greatest hits" titles to tide me over. This is because I was primarily a GC gamer, and after RE4 was released in early January the console had nothing of note until the port of Twilight Princess came out for it at the end of '06.

Then when I got a Wii and 360 in the fall of '07 my passion for gaming was reignited.

I just sold my PS3 and all games for it, so I can safely say that I'm taking a break from "gaming". In a month that I haven't played anything I managed to pass 3 exams, which leaves me with 2, so I might finish grad school by end of year/semester :)

I haven't gamed online since around April, and gamed at all since August...with the exception of splitscreen Splinter Cell at my buddy's house.

Never considered actually quitting but i have taken breaks like i remember back in late 08/early 09 i would go months without playing but that was mainly due to no software that interested me.

Yes thought in this Gen about it quite a few times especially at the beginning.
After hearing everything has to turn into CoD even J-RPGs cause that audience is more important than their fanbase i didn't have that much left and my PC couldn't handle everything as i wanted it to.
Naughty Dog,Quantic Dream and some others gave me hope back for consoles and i had money to get a new PC too.
I probably didn't even play 1/3 of the time i did before this Gen(not counting years of WoW) but i can't wait to get my hands on the PS4.Never had such a good feeling and hope for gaming.

Thats been tempting for me, I cant simply pack my ps3 away and think out of sight out of mind. I would have to actaully sell it otherwise I will be tempted to play it when im bored of studying. I've been a bit better lately and I actually feel guilty of playing games when im ment to be studying for exams.

I took a break from gaming during the 32 bit era, i just couldnt get into that era or many of the games believe it or not. I bought a very cheap Saturn in 1998 when it was on its last legs, but that was the only experience i had of that era.Tomb Raider, Saturn Bomberman, Sega Rally and virtua fighter 2 were the standout games. It was the GameCube that made me fall in love with Nintendo and gaming again...such an under appreciated console, hope the brilliant Wii U doesnt suffer the same fate and picks up steam :(
