Depends on who you ask. Hardcore Pokemon players can tell you how much the game and it's mechanics changed when the 3rd gen introduced special attack and special defense. I'm no Pokemon expert but I know that was probably the biggest changed the series had so far. Plus the inclusion of different types of Pokemon (like Magnemite which in gen 1 it was only electric type, but now it's also steel type), those changes may sound small, but for a Pokemon veteran they were huge when it came to strategies and stuff.

And I can tell you the small differences that happen each year to NCAA Football. Doesn't stop people from calling it a roster update.

That's why I said that it depends on who you ask. This is only things I heard from Pokemon vets over the internet. I personally hated gens 3 and 4, kinda liked gen 5.

They were released as Final Fantasy games, right? Anyway, to refer to the original post, I'm pretty sure most everyone would prefer a completely new Pokemon game over the 8th release of a FF one. Or 9th. Or 10th.

I'll take the release of a new Final Fantasy game over any new Pokemon games. In this here case, Final Fantasy XV. ^_-

In fact, I'd rather replay a good classic FF game over any new Pokemon game.

Re-releasing a game, or porting it doesn't make the game a new one. Unless they're remakes. In which case I added those to the count.

You do know you're making very unfair points.  #1 what it seems like you're doing is counting yellow, red, blue, green, crystal, gold, etc. each as individual releases.  Why would you do that?  #2 You're counting games like Mystery Dungeon and Pokemon Stadium, which are not at all comparable to the Final Fantasy spin-offs like Crystal Chronicles or Tactics  #3 You SHOULD be counting ports and collections because it would only be fair to pokemon as they have no ports/collections/re-releases, only remakes.  Counting X and Y as two separate games is just as bad as counting ports.  #4 Final Fantasy mainline series goes to 15, as in 15 generations.  Pokemon only goes to 6.  You say Final Fantasy is older, but I'm sure you have also noticed that the quality is not consistent with Final Fantasy games.  Pokemon mainline series tend to maintain a level of quality with their games at the least.  It also barely makes any sense to compare the two in the first place considering how different their situations are.  Final Fantasy games tend to be all very diferent from one another (as it should be) and Pokemon following the same mechanics and story, but also sprucing things up along the way with some new things each gen.

All I really get from your post is that you simply dislike pokemon and are obsessed with Final Fantasy.

they are completely different each gen, and this gen is a huge upgrade fromthe last

And from your post, I should get that you're obsessed with Pokemon.  Seems as fair as you doing this for me. Don't you think? -__-

But what I really got from your post is: "Blah blah blah blah."

Because it should be categorize by genre. How many RPGs does Pokemon has? the 6th mainline ones and don't now how many more. Fighting games? The Pokemon Stadium games and..I don't know. There's Pokemon snap...on rail shooter? I don't know. My point is that, yes, there are A LOT of Pokemon games, but not everyone of them is the same. Same applies to Mario and FF.

I was moreso speaking from a chance standpoint. Outside of X and Y, you could argue that every Pokemon is much like a roster update.

the only gen that was more of a gen roster update was from fourth to fifth gen, trust me they all are completely different from each other, especially mechanic wise. Us Competitive players have to learn new strategies/etc in a new gen. Its just similar plots and 8 gyms thats the same. If you dont kno pokemon... You dont kno pokemon :P

I am hardly obsessed with Pokemon at all.  I have played more Final Fantasy titles than I have Pokemon.  4,5,7,8,9,10,Tactics,Tactics Adv,Crystal Chronicles,Dissidia
vs Yellow,Blue,Ruby,Sapphire,White,Stadium.
I'm soon going to play FF6.

So no, not really at all.  You're simply being immature.

Although Pokemon is no longer my reason to get a Ninty product. This thread just reminded me, on how horribly poor I am that I cannot even afford a 3DS. X_x

Really? You're the one trying to argue about my stance, not accepting that I couldn't care less about Pokemon, and arguing about which Pokemon games should count into the total or not... ¬_¬

Why? Who cares? I'm not into the Pokemon series. No need to wet your pampers.

Never played any Pokemon games. Am I missing much?

I can't possibly how Nintendo fans would try and defend the Pokemon in that regard.

and I have my 3DS for none of the reasons listed above.

oh, there are too many Pokemon games, I agree with him actually...when it comes to spin offs  (although they are pretty different: Ranger, Mystery Dungeon, Conquest, Stadium,Pinball, the GameCube RPGs, Snap etc.)

I just find it ironic that someone with a Final Fantasy avatar criticised Pokemon for "milking" (when, let´s be honest, both IPs are equally guilty)
