Forums - Nintendo - Now what is the biggest reason you are on the fence about getting the Wii U?

the wii u itself is the reason...there is nothing it can do that ps3/xbpx360 does not do...i wouldn't compare the wii u to PS4 or xbox one for obvious reasons....

Native 1080p

HD stream (real time, no buffer)

Video Chat on gamepad

GAMEPAD

and 1st party Nintendo Games

Can PS3/Xbox 360 play Mario Kart 8? Smash Bros U? Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze? Pikmin 3? Mario 3D World? Wind Waker HD? Sonic Lost World? X? Bayonetta 2? Yarn Yoshi?

It's not enough of an upgrade. It doesn't upscale old Wii Games, and still uses the old Wii Motion+ remotes.

I already know what they are like and they are fine, but I already have them. It's nothing new.

That same old balance board too. It was great in 2009, but it's soon to be 2014 and having an accessory that lets you play jumping games, that you can't jump on, just seems silly.

The loading times just sound really frustrating. Especially after the new systems launch and one switch really quickly (reportedly) and the other instantly.

But the real reason is most motion games play better on Kinect. And most of the 'have to play' games are coming out on other systems.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

I WAS on the fence between PS4 and Wii-U simply because I grew up a Nintendo kid in the 80's and have owned every console they've released, AS they released them. But I just can't do it anymore. I've realized that it's just, not the same company I fell in love with in the 80's and 90's. The days of OOT are over. They're no longer either willing or able to create games, CORE games, that blow our collective minds. There was a time, between 85-'00 when this was the case, but no more. The last game I can remember was Metroid Prime, and that was what? 11 years ago?

I realized that my fascination with them is now all nostalgia. To this DAY, when I hear the theme to Metroid, Zelda, Mario and Donkey Kong Country, I stop in my tracks and drift off into some memory induced childlike trance. But that's all it is, memories. They were AMAZING memories, but you can't put your arm around them.

I'll always have my NES,SNES,N64,Gamecube to play but, that's where it ends. Its' time to say goodbye.

On NES, they basically INVENTED the modern industry. On the N64, games like Mario 64 and OOT changed the way we think of hard core games and gameplay mechanics. During that stretch, they were at the forefront of this industry, umatched. That's no longer the case.

What CORE game has had the impact of Mario 64 or OOT, since then? I can't think of one single title. Sure, there's been a lot of great games, and I've purchased most of them, but that's all they were, great games. They don't reinvent the wheel anymore. They don't release anything hard core anymore that changes the very definition of "core".

That magic is gone.

U act like the Wii and motion controls werent a big deal

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Price + Lack of Software,

I'll be getting a Wii U for X and the next Zelda no matter what, but outside of that I don't see much. I honestly could care less about almost 95% of the Nintendo first party.
