Super Mario Galaxy

its just amazing how every level felt like a different game it was just all thrown together like the universe itself and it just worked perfectly and with one of the best OSTs ever created it screams with creativity from start to finish. this game proves that even with limited specs by todays standards you can do miracles.

Tsubasa Ozora

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

Really good topic and one that it is impossible to give just one answer... I would have to say Panzer Dragoon Saga with it´s innovative gameplay mechanics, imaginative storyline and ways to convey a deep story in a very emotional way.

Honorable mentions should go to NiGHTS into dreams for creating an amazing game strictly around point collecting, and Radiant Silvergun for the deepest SHMUPS I have ever experienced.

Sega saturn had some very interesting games ! and thanks to the xbl marketplace more people can relive/experience those games especially Radiant Silvergun and Guardian heroes

Portal: Basing an entire game on the portal concept was brilliant and lead to some really creative level design. Evolved further in Portal 2.

Deus Ex: Even with the limited technology the game managed to create a fully realised cyber punk world that felt alive. The levels were designed to be open with multiple methods for completing the same objectives and the story incorporated an eclectic mix of elements from conspiracies to sci-fi tech.

Exactly, if only MS had bought Sega back in the days, how much more amazing X360 would have been today... although it is an amazing machine already :).

Ok, sticking with Nintendo, how about Metroid Prime? Retro took a 2D, side-scrolling platformer and transformed it into an epic, 3D, first-person shooter.

And now it's hard to think of Metroid going back to side-scrolling. Although I wouldn't mind because I really liked Fusion.

So this game almost defines creativity. It's called Karmaflow. What makes this so creative is how it uses music to tell a story. It's defined as a "Rock Opera Video Game" and it shows in the videos they have up on their sites.

They have some big name singers lending their voices to this game, so far they've unveiled: Marc Hudson (Dragonforce), Simone Simons (Epica), Mark Jansen (Epica, MaYan), Dani Filth (Cradle of Filth, Devilment), Mariangela Demuratas (Tristania), Alissa White-Gluz (The Agonist), Elise Ryd (Amaranthe), Henning Basse (MaYan, Uli John Roth, former Metallium, Firewind).

All these singers will be lending their voices to characters in the game and they literally sing the story to the players and explain what has happend to them and their world. And the player will be able to change the song which will affect the story and how it turns out. Also the music can change based on what the player is doing so this game can be played multiple times and experienced in different ways.

Check out the Karmaflow site and their Indiegogo page for more info and to help donate to the game.

Also their creator Ivo van Dijk did an interview where he explains more about the game. You can listen to it here.

Watch the videos I think they show how creative this game is.
