Those have been replaced by Galaxy. As we can see from this thread, "single player 3D Mario" and "Galaxy" are synonymous.

Perfect. time to close the topic.
I didn't want another galaxy game, I wanted a new exciting 3D adventure. Instead I got a crappy looking multiplayer DLC pack for 3D Land that costs 60 dollars. Nintendo will not get my money for this.

Yeah but even with Galaxy it's still not the same as a Mario 64 or Banjo type game, because aside from a few worlds most Mario Galaxy levels are linear, and there's no real sense of exploration the way there was with the N64's 3D platformers.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
I think you're jumping to conclusions way too early on this one Curl. As JWeinCom stated, each of the five different demo levels offered a unique experience to the player so that they could experience the new gameplay elements that EAD Tokyo has shown thus far (Catsuit, Glass Pipes, Multiplayer). So saying that these levels "looked almost auto-generated" is really taking an extreme stance on the matter that I think is quite unfounded.
Is the level design taken from a different cloth than the Galaxy series? Without a doubt, as the levels have a wider, more "playground" design to them (as opposed to the more linear and focused designs from Galaxy 1 and 2). 3D World gives the player more freedom to venture out and explore the levels, with various rewards for doing so (the Silver Stars, unlike the Green Stars from Galaxy 1/2, are part of each level's challenge from the get go).
From what I've played (I played the vertical level with the bullet bills), the game offers pitch perfect platforming controls and engaging level design which encourages you to try and discover every nook and cranny. I really had a great time playing it, and with EAD Tokyo's track record, I have little reason to worry.
Would I like to see a Galaxy 3? Seeing as Galaxy 2 is my favorite game ever, absolutely. But right now I can't wait for 3D World, as it looks to be another stunning game, whether it's me playing by myself or with others.

Smeags, I don´t doubt this game will be fun, but I think the main problem some people are having with the game is this: regardless of how fun it turns out to be, it only seems to be an 'expansion' of the 3DS game..a bigger, better version of it, and not something really new.I wasn´t expecting, nor I wanted, a 'Galaxy 3'.. I wanted something 'new', Galaxy felt fresh when compared to Sunshine, and Sunshine felt fresh when compared to Mario 64, and I´m not getting that vibe from 3D World.
The feeling gets worse because it´ll be the second Wii U Mario game that feels more like an expansion than a fresh experience..NSMBU let me down because of how similar it feels to NSMB Wii, they reused so many assets it left a 'meh' feeling as far as I´m concerned.I was let down because where was the Nintendo that made SMB, SMB2, SMB3 and SMBW so different from one another (different music, different worlds, etc..)?...despite the very good platforming and level design in NSMBU, I couldn´t help but get a "they´re being lazy" feeling...and now I´m wondering if I´m getting the same feeling with this new Mario game, which would make it twice in a row.
Of course, I´m speaking for myself, and I´m not asking you to agree with me, I just want to know if you can see where I´m coming from.

I would suggest playing this with multiplayer. There is a very big difference in the way a 4 player platformer and a 2 player platformer feels, and as far as I can recall a 4 player 3D platformer has never been done so well. I think this is a very significant change to the formula that makes the game stand out, and it's a lot of fun.
From what I have seen, single player will be boring. Levels looks very easy.
One of the E3 levels were a 6-? and it hasn't any challenge.

It looks enjoyable enough, but a huge step down from SMG. I won't lie I'm hugely disappointed. With nintendo finally getting a console more powerful than the 360/PS3 I expected a lot more than this. It looks bland and copy-pasta. Maybe auto-generated like the OP said. It's not like SM64/Sunshine/SMG/Banjo Kazooie where I'll see something in the distance and want to explore like a village or tower or fire-planet, instead all I see is more auto-generated landscape.
I'm not going to get angry over it anymore though, I'll just accept that Nintendo have chosen a different direction and I'll move on. A Hat in Time looks like it's the game I was hoping this would be so I will focus on that instead.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Good work sir.
Either way, I think the game looks fun. Not challenging, not innovative, but it looks like an extremely fun time. I don't plan on playing multiplayer on it, and I think that will have no effect on my experience. I actually think my experience will be much better playing it alone. Also, we have little to no information on the game. You collect stars instead of coins (3 Per Level) so maybe there is this big hubworld for you to explore, but we couldn't know because again, there are no details supporting this or not supporting this. If you look at the game, it's actually ALOT like Galaxy. Power ups, linear level design (linear but brilliant, with some branching paths) 3 Stars Per Level (Maybe secret ones every now and then). I'm just saying we've seen like 5 levels and people are writing it off, it's too early to judge anything about the game.
