this game better sell well on Wii U or there won't be any other CoD on the console, and that'll probably hurt 3rd party games over all on Wii U

Black Ops 2 was on Wii U and that sold under 200K (according to VGC), I doubt CoD Ghost will do that much better.

it could double the numbers...which still isnt good, but its something

Say if it could double in numbers to 400K, if CoD Ghost was a port to Wii U, could selling that much be profitable enough for Activision?

400k would probably be profitable yes. Porting a game costs around 250k (I think), and the Wii U is designed speficically for easy ports, so it shouldn't cost all that much. Now when I'm thinking about it I think someone said a port ony needs to sell 100k copies for it to begin to be profitable..

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Very true, and even more reason why this game needs to do better. BUT, hopefully this game will launch the same date as on the other platforms, and the instal base for the Wii U will be bigger now - so more people will be online playing it (which is a major selling point for the game)

Well few factors came to my mind to consider how poorly CoD can be for Wii U:
- Of all the Wii U owners, how many actually got it to play a CoD game? Because what makes a CoD game great is the online, and if BO2 sold under 200K, how many of them are actually still playing it constantly? (We know that there's enough die-hard CoD players on PS360 that the online wont go dry for awhile)
- There's a good chance that a lot of Wii U owners also have a PS3/Xbox 360, so wouldnt it be more benificial to get an online game that has a larger install base? Because that's what I'd do.
- The Wii U tablet controller isn't the most comfortable to use playing a FPS (from when I used it) so that may turn gamers away.

I can mailny see those that buy CoD for Wii U are gamers that only the Wii U/Nintendo only consoles.

I can be wrong but that's just what came to my mind.

BTW: Do you know how many Wii U console have been sold so far? I can't seem to find the numbers for it.

I agree with every one of your points above, except about the gamepad, since I haven't tried it for fps yet. And that's one of the problems facing CoD on Wii U. What needs to be done is getting a online comunity going.

I think Wii U has sold somewhere between 3m-3.5m....

If Nintendo can get a strong online community that would definitely help tho I rarely hear as much about it compared to PSN and XBL.

The Wii U gamepad is fine to play FPS, but competitively you don't want to use the gamepad screen as you just want to stay focus on one screen.  The devs for BO2 even said that they suggest playing with the regular Wii U controller than the gamepad.  I can imagine the hardcore FPS players using the Wii U gamepad then get mad and throw the controller since they do that with normal controllers also lol

3-3.5mil seems to be alright but they really need something more ground breaking to push the sales more.

May buy this to support third party games. Comitted to the cause!

Ubisoft said it costs ~$1 - $1,5 Mil to port a game to the WiiU. If we assume the publisher receives about $20 of the $60 price, the game would make 400k*$20 = $8Mil - 1.5Mil = $6.5Mil

A small profit, but a profit nontheless. Note that advertising is not included in this calculation.

Thanks for the info! I'm sure advertising shouldn't cost all that much since they'll be advertising it for the other consoles and all they really need to do is just add the Wii U logo into every banner/commercial etc..

I think 400k for COD is easily attainable for the next entry on Wii U. Launching same day as other copies would give an initial boost, and the user base should be easily double by launch and much more than double by the end of the Christmas shopping season. I hope so, as a 100% gain in sales volume would indicate potential for COD on Wii U and hopefully ensure future versions and ensure I don't have to pay to play it online.

Yeah, Miiverse is a great start, but it's not quite the same thing as PSN or XBL...

Yeah that sounds about right! But I'd think that if you're playing online you'd use the pro controller instead...

Yeah, they should have had some system sellers quite some time ago! they're coming by the end of the year, but question is if it isn't too little too late then...

The reason BLOPS II did so horrible on the Wii U was because it wasn't confirmed for the system until less than 2 months before launch when the game had already been announced way back in May and pre-orders were already being taken for the other versions, and there weren't any upgrades or extra features over the current gen versions other than being able to play on the tablet screen. Not to mention an inferior online multiplayer experience, which is the bread and butter of any COD game.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

i doubt it.

Most games are happy to reach 400K, and that doesn't mean shovelware. Probably some 100K are the target the budget is made for. Maybe COD has a budget that needs some millions sales to break even. But I doubt it - is it so much in advance of other games? But nevertheless, that would be the calculation for the game itself. A port is much cheaper. If some 100K are not enough to break even on a port, than the company should look for another business.

bets: [GTA6]

Whether I consider this or not depends largely on whether it supports Wiimote controls like BO2 did.

I thought that the NSMBU was a nice launch title and definitely helped push some sales but felt the momentum kind of stopped there.  I'm really excited for Bayonetta 2 and Project X but I doubt they'll be strong enough to be a system seller.

I keep saying that Nintendo's trump card is an actual Pokemon home console RPG game and/or a Pokemon MMO.

I think it's still not too late for Nintendo and still have alot of fight left in them to not be overshadowed by the other next gen consoles but time will tell.
