why am i saying this? because the company at its core believes in this, this is their goal and this is what they believe the gaming industry should be like, controlled. for example here is what a microsoft employee wrote on a blog about the entire DRM u-turn that happened yesterday.
"I stand by the belief that Playstation 4 is Xbox 360 part 2, while Xbox One is trying to revolutionize entertainment consumption. For people who don’t want these amazing additions, like Don said we have a console for that and it’s called Xbox 360."
stuff like streaming video games to your friend, or streaming the game to your console so you can help him out or even try it out for as long as you want, or seemless sharing videos with just pressing one button or streaming video games right from the get go isnt revolutionary, it isnt something impressive and it isnt something amazing, but sharing a game trail with your friend is!
Microsofts vision for the industry isnt something that i would call amazing, it isnt something that would benefit me or you. why does the future have to be ALL digital? why does it have to be CONTROLLED by microsoft? why does it mean i am given restricitions instead of choices? why is the future the cloud? the endless power of the cloud? is that the answer? apperantly so, guess who controlls that power though?

Huh? This is not MS-specific. The whole world gets more and more digital and it's getting more and more, if we want it or not. Think of the demo for TloU: It was digital only and no one cared about it. Ok, in the beginning it showed that psn still has some issues but generally nobody complained they had to download it.
Generally, we are talking about making money. And digital distribution is cheaper than physical. That's why netflix is a success just like Spotify.
I still don't know why you are talking about MS specifically. Perhaps you don't have a global picture of how the world and the internet changed and still changes. Every company tries to control users, this is no unique feature from MS. Sony even installed a rootkit on windows via audio-cds.
