yes, the xbox one didnt even release yet and here i am talking about the console that will come after it, but hey this will make my prediction all that more impressive when it comes true.

so ill just say it right away. the 4th generation of xbox home consoles will have policies restricting used games and DRM policies as well. again they will try to eleminate the idea of owning a game and make it into buying a license. i dont know how exactly, i dont know the details of course. but trust me, restrictions will be there. 

why am i saying this? because the company at its core believes in this, this is their goal and this is what they believe the gaming industry should be like, controlled. for example here is what a microsoft employee wrote on a blog about the entire DRM u-turn that happened yesterday. 

"I stand by the belief that Playstation 4 is Xbox 360 part 2, while Xbox One is trying to revolutionize entertainment consumption. For people who don’t want these amazing additions, like Don said we have a console for that and it’s called Xbox 360."

stuff like streaming video games to your friend, or streaming the game to your console so you can help him out or even try it out for as long as you want, or seemless sharing videos with just pressing one button or streaming video games right from the get go isnt revolutionary, it isnt something impressive  and it isnt something amazing, but sharing a game trail with your friend is!

Microsofts vision for the industry isnt something that i would call amazing, it isnt something that would benefit me or you. why does the future have to be ALL digital? why does it have to be CONTROLLED  by microsoft? why does it mean i am given restricitions instead of choices? why is the future the cloud?  the endless power of the cloud? is that the answer? apperantly so, guess who controlls that power though?

I think we are bound to go down that path eventually though. It just seems like the natural progression. How long that will take is anyone's guess really. A digital future seems kind of inevitable.

why is it the natural progression? because we are told so by microsoft or valve or sony?

We are a good 6-10 years a way from that. I really hoped we could get back to talking about games on this site but I guess I was wrong. Just enjoy the present and stop focusing on past and future. We are all psychologically ill because we are trapped in the past and future rather than living the moment.

Not sure honestly. It just seems that way to me. The world itself will eventually go all digital with the progression of technology. First all digital then hopefully one day vr. oh, kind of like from cds to digital dl. Same for movies too.

Maybe, though sort of irrelevant either way as come what, 10 years from now? it might be the best thing for consoles.

However, I dont think they will quickly forget the lesson they learnt this time round, a lesson they learnt the hard and might still have big ramifications yet. After the work they did to get into the console market, the money they lost on the original Xbox, then finally getting a foot hold... only to blow that f*cking foot off with a FRICKING RAILGUN!

For what purpose? To be met with angry gamers again? To be mocked by Sony again?

Sadly I believe this is true with the majority of people.

I think he means, we live thinking too much about the past and future, but don't cherish the present time enough/something like that lol
