Forums - Sony - You think PS4 will be hacked day one? Updated!

XBox One is the primary target for hackers. They are going to hack the shit out of that console just to make their point clear. Several Anonymous people already said they are going to take out the network to try and force Microsoft to remove the online check.

The console itself will also get hacked. There is no secure system. The reason the Vita isn't hacked yet is just that there is no interest for it anymore. You see, everything a hacked vita could do can be done with smartphones. Back in the day with the PSP, that wasn't the case so you had a huge community. That community is a lot smaller today. The same applies for home consoles, there just isn't a real advantage in hacking them because everything that could possibly done can be done with other devices or just with the TV itself. Sure, you can't play pirated games, but hacking isn't about that anyways. Only very few hackers actually try to achieve that.

Microsoft gave hackers a very good reason to hack the console as well as their network. Even more with mandatory Kinect that has to be plugged in. They will have to deal with Anonymous and Chaos Computer Club at the very least. It's just sad for Xbox Players. Because they are going to feel very soon just what a 24-hour-online-check means. Have your 360 ready. Just saying.

As for the PS4, I see no reason to hack it just yet. But we all know that Sony is also really godd at fucking up things if they feel like it. At the moment, everything seems fine. But who knows what the future brings.

I assume they're taking extra security measures to better account for that very fact.

2 - 3 years for a good homebrew hack, maybe a little over a year to get what we got with the Wii U and just got with the 3DS.

Eventually it will so will the X1. The PS3 was thought to be unhackable and it got hacked.

Yes but I took three to four years for that achievement. Sony is totally aware that they are the target N°1 for hackers, and gonna put some enforced security in it for sure.

Xbone will be #1 target for hackers. I wouldn't be surprised if Anonymous makes it a mission to hack Xbone.

With Xbox360 I only really cared about its sales to the extent that it might cause PS3 to fail. Once I was sure PS3 would succeed Xbox 360's sales became largely of no concern to me. Sure, I was happy to see PS3 outselling Xbox360 on a weekly basis. But I wasn't wishing for Xbox360 sales to fall through the floor.

With Xbone I actively want this console to fail because of the DRM it's brining in. This is not an anti-MS thing, because if Sony introduced similar DRM I'd actively want PS4 to fail too. I'm anti-DRM which prevents or limits game trading, and I will wish ill on any device which tries to implement it. If hacking can help to destroy the Xbone's DRM implementation then I'll be cheering on the hackers. What I hope for is for Xbone to fail, or for Xbone DRM to fail and be eliminated and then I'm happy for Xbone to live and let live. I'd rather DRM fails and Xbone carries on, because having 3 consoles in the game is good over all. But if Xbone itself has to fail in order for DRM in consoles to be buried then I'm happy for Xbone to be a blood sacrifice. As I would be for PS4 to be a blood sacrifice if the roles were reversed.

Probably somewhere within the first year. As others have stated, i do think Xbox will garner a lot of hackers' attention because of their dictatorial policies. Hackers tend to not like those.

MS has been dealing with Hackers since Windows was released. I think there experience for online products is far beyond Nintendo and Sony. So i would say MS would be more on the ball then the other 2.

Hackers might even refuse to release a PS4 hack before the X1 is hacked. It wouldn't be unusual. So many reasons to hack the machine that don't have anything to do with piracy.

Even if it was... so what?

What does piracy get you, but a sub-par experience on your games? No online play, no digital games, no DLC. Whats the point? You pay nothing but you receive a broken product. I personally wouldnt feel satisfied with that.

I dont know much about security (when i used to do IT it was one area that I didnt particularly like or enjoy)... but if we gone on love/hate/annoyance.. I would suspect that because of the gamers outrage that MS would be the first target. Just because hackers will see it as anti consumer etc.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

Usually the hacking community is interested on the thing that gives them a challenge or something different so-to-speak. I don't think its the PS4.

Nope all the hackers will be concentrating on the X1, nothing hackers like more than an anti consumer product that they can tear apart. PS4 its gonna get a free pass till the hackers have completely removed the need for online checks on games. Especially now we know if you get banned from xbox live you will lose all your X1 games forever.
