Between Nintendo and Ubisoft, there should be enough to get it moving off shelves. Nintendo won't want a repeat of this year though, and that's when Mario Kart and others come in. 8 is the first Mario Kart to get me pumped since the 64.

Possibly Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong and Zelda Wind Waker will help sell systems, but so many as expected.
Now, if a price drop also comes, it would help A LOT. Specially when the competitors are launching expensive devices

Super Mario 3D World will sell systems, just like Super Mario 3D Land did.

Yeh that's what I think

Mario is Mario. It will sell systems. Other than that, people doubted Donkey Kong Country's sales potential in 2010, and they ended up looking a little silly...

The second half of the year is looking good for the Wii U. Throw in a price cut and you have at least a somewhat appealing product already, in both single- and multiplayer content. The biggest obstacle is the Gamepad, but it's not possible to remove that thing, just like 3D had to stay with the 3DS.

If Nintendo can't beat the X1 and PS4 this holiday, then the system has no hope left.

Hope for what exactly? Winning this generation? Having a sucessful console? Surviving?

Maybe I'm delusional, but I think so long as there are 10 million Wii U's out in the wild by the end of the year, the console will be a profitable venture for Nintendo and the system will eventually crack 50 million. It is looking too late for it to reach Wii levels of success, but it could at least sell north of the SNES.

No if you break down the upcoming releases:

Pikmin 3: Fun looking game, but way too niche.
Wonderful 101: Same thing as pikmin
Wii U fit: Casuals are long gone
Wii U party: Casuals are long gone
Tropical Freeze: A solid looking 2D plat, but still a 2D plat.
3D World: An uninspired, unoriginal piece of dog shit.

I don't think they have anything that is going to light the world on fire, but the combination of all of it should help at the very least.

Compare bolded to  Uncharted, Gears,  InFamous, Killzone, Halo, GranTurismo, Call of Duty, Fifa, Battlefield    please

All are system sellers.

No, the Wii U doesn't have a system-seller, yet. When it gets released Project X looks to be my must-have title, and who knows when Zelda Wii U is going to be coming out.

That said, I'm not sure the Wii U needs system-selling titles to sell well.

The Wii U will probably start to sell well now purely because it is the cheap console. It's at $350, has no online subscription, and has had a year to collect titles. The nearest competitor price-wise is the PS4, which is $50 more expensive and has a $50/ year online subscription, and doesn't exactly have a system-selling library, yet, either.

Moving up the ladder, you have the One, a whopping $150 more and $50/ year subscription, again launching without a system seller. The icing on the cake is that One's multitasking--putting two movies on one TV screen--makes the Wii U's gamepad look brilliant and inexpensive at the same time.

While the comparison of the HD consoles was between the infant Wii U and the mature PS3/360, the comparison inevitably made the Wii U look expensive and weak. The situation flips when competition comes to market.

It is a strong holiday lineup this year. It goes Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Retro's DKC:Tropical Freeze, Wii Fit U, Wii U Party, TZoZ Windwaker and the 3D Mario game itself, Super Mario 3D World. If that isn't a good showing, I don't know what is.
Plus some 3rd party titles that won't sell a system but they help.

This times a million. Honestly, if Infamous and Killzone are going to be system sellers (both series having sold 10 million copies world wide) why doesn't a 3D mario gae fit the bill? 3D Land sold 10 million on its own. Galaxy sold 10 million, galaxy 2 sold like 6 or 7 million. DK sold 6 million.

I don't care if this gets me banned, but if you think these games won't sell the system you are a fucking idiot. I usually don't do this but I am so fucking sick of people doubting the wiiu and its games. Turn that little light in your brain on that fucking allows you to think using logic. Mario and a 3D Zelda Remake helped revitilise 3DS sales yet WW HD and 3D World? wtf?! stop being a fucking nintendo doubter/hater just for fucking because!  I'm Out.

Once again a large fuck you to people who shit on Nintendo games for being uninspired. The shit you play is probably less innovative than shit on a stick. Im tired of these threads anyways. The internet is so fucking depressing. Being a gamer is no longer fun. i dont know how you can read shit like what JazzDipshit10120 can say and not want to reach into your computer and give him a smack upside the head for having such a dumb opinion.

Bye bye now :)

One good game (NSMBU) isn't enough to warrant a $350 investment for many (myself included) but throw in DKC:TF, SM3DW, Wii Fit U, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101 and suddenly most people who were somewhat interested in the console now have a selection of 2-3 games that fit their tastes which makes the purchase of the console a more sound investment.

So in short, yes Wii U has system sellers for this holiday.

Signature goes here!

Super Mario 3D didnt look that strong. It actually took steps back and the whole cat thing was off putting. I'll just let children play that game and focus on Donkey Kong or something.
