Who are the ones waiting for Nintendo consoles though? I know there must be some, but given how cheap the Wii U has been sold for I would have thought most of the people who know they want Nintendo games would have picked one up.

Me for starters, there's many other Nintendo users in this thread who said they would buy this summer/fall, you can look in this thread http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=162414 for other users who are waiting on games to buy it. If you check the result of the poll from that thread:

Will you buy Wii U?

Yes 163 30.99%

No 110 20.91%

Undecided 63 11.98%

I already HAVE it! 190 36.12%

Total: 526

You see that there's a good portion of people who are in the "I'll buy it soon" state of mind. Almost as many as people who already have the console.

I'm surprised. I would have expected everyone who knows they want to play Nintendo games to have bought it by now. Here in the UK we have had several sales of £149/£199 + a game for the Wii U, and I can't see it getting cheaper for a long time.

I'm very curious to know why people haven't bought it yet? It wouldn't cost more (in fact probably less) and more sales = more support.

Why buy something if you aren't going to use it?

I bought the PS2 at launch and for several months it served more as a DVD player than a gaming device because there were so few interesting games for it at launch. When the PS3 launched I wasn't about to repeat the same mistake, I didn't buy it until June 2008 because once again the launch lineup left me cold... it wasn't really a matter of price, I didn't buy it right away because I didn't need it. I had my PC, PS2 and Wii to sustain my gaming cravings but as noteworthy titles came rolling in then I felt the urge to have a PS3 and bought it.

I just can't help but feel that:

A: Consumers are in Mario fatigue after NSMB2, NSMBU, 3D Land, and now 3D World all in two years.

B: NSMBU wasn't exactly a smash hit system seller.

C: It looks to conservative to draw in new consumers or much of the "core", and too samey to draw in casuals who will feel like, "well, we already HAVE a Mario game."

A: You have to remember that the Wii & DS sold about 250 Million Worldwide while the Wii U & 3DS has only sold around 35 Million so far. Yes, some people owned multiple DS's or Wii's but I would say you have at least 100 Million unique users. The other 65 Million haven't experienced a Mario game since 2010 or earlier. I doubt the GP is completely tired of him.

B: Most people don't buy systems for a single game, NSMBU will definitely be a factor for many people later on and help to sell systems.

C: This is actually possible, the casual might say "we have Mario on Wii already" it will be Nintendo's job to make it look better and different. Being that it's 3D shows that they know that.

Ok, well if that is what all those people in the poll are thinking it might have a very good holiday. I personally don't really get why people wouldn't spend the same money and have it for longer. It's not like it is completely useless. Still, I'm glad it still has a bunch of guaranteed sales coming.

Actually after watching the full Mario 3D World trailer in HD I have to say: Maybe it IS going to be a hit and system seller after all. It has a ton of charm and originality. If Nintendo manage to make it grand and epic and give it a boxart that stands out from the NSMB series it could be big.

MK8 looks immense, btw (but it's 2014 of course).

Why are so many people doubting Super Mario 3D World? It might not be a system seller for the people who frequent gaming sites, but the GP will definitely take notice. A price cut this Holiday would help a ton too and be a nice combo for Wii U sales.

for two different platforms. No one is getting tired of mario ,specially when the releases take turns between 2d and 3d. and what do you say about cod, fifa and the other games that release yearly and are just a copy of the previous one? that's basically the ps360 and psone library

I say they're garbage. Especially FIFA. FIFA makes me sick to my stomach.
