Forums - Sony - PS4 console in 3D, measurements: is the PS4 too small?? I'm worried about overheating, we need to talk about it.

If heat was a worry, we would see an external power brick rather than internal.

Low power cores and the vents in the back should make it okay.

Nope I'm not worried in the slightest about overheating.

it looks beautiful!

Which reminds me Xbone has a power brick and is a bigger console.

Sony really nailed this if PS4 goes fail proof.

What really annoys me is how bland and similar it looks to the XBone. I was expecting Sony to be the one with better console design than MS or Nintendo, but at the end of the day it's just a box.

I'm actually glad they didn't go much outside of the ordinary. Why make a ball/triangle/cross/etc shaped console when the proved working formula is a rectangular one? It is better for people putting it on their decks, it is probably better for ventilation, etc. No "spiderman" font bullshit, no Gamecube 'toy-like' design, etc. It is traditional and it works, and it is in no way similar to Xbone - PS4 is a far more ambitious design.

I for one am happy that the PS4 may be prone to overheating. Sony knew that some of their gamers would be poor because of the mandatory price for online. So they made the sure PS4 could act as a functional heater since these poor gamers likely would not be able to afford their energy and heating bills. This is how I know Sony will win this gen. They're always looking out for the little guy.

Smaller console, smaller parts, less power consumed, less heat dissipated. Hence the reason why smart phones don't burst into flames. With all those vents at the back too, it should be pretty cool.

Exactly.

A high level of heat is a power supply destroyer. This shows it, among other things.

Of course, if you clog it up, I bet it'll overheat nicely :P

I think MS made X1 overly big so when they do like Sony by providing a slimmer model they can say "the X1 slim is a whopping 40% smaller than the current version" and everybody will be like " omg! look how much smaller it is"

They will also have room for a 3rd revision when they do that again like Sony

I thought the PS4 was ugly when i 1st looked at it. Its neutral now. It looks look 2 ps2 slims slapped together lol

and how the hell are we supposed to turn the PS4 on? I didn't see any buttons
