Eh, it's basically a rewards program with fairly decent returns (at least in the U.S.). The rewards are rarely mind-blowing, but it's a decent way to get extra digital games: buy three qualifying retail games, fill out the surveys, and you'll probably have enough coins to get one or two of the monthly Nintendo VC/WiiWare/eShop games that they're offering on a rotating basis. I got Super Punch-Out!!, Starship Defense, Metroid II, and a few other games this way.

Basically, it's nothing mind-blowing, or worth switching allegiances over by itself, but it's a pretty nice topping to your ice cream.

On topic, I got platinum months ago. No idea how either, really: I don't think I bought all that many games...

where can I check if I'm platinum too ???

Log onto your Club Nintendo account. In the upper-right hand corner, it'll have your username, your current number of (usable) coins, and then either a bar or a shield with a "P" in it. If there's a progress bar, you're either Gold or below. If there's the shield, you've gone Platinum for 2013.

Just 80 coins away. I just need to buy one more nintendo published wii u game and I'm set. But first I have to DL at least two games to bring it down some more.

Gold, will reach Platinum if register couple more recently bought games. I was Platinum couple of years ago, didn't really worth an effort (surveys, more syrveys, yet some more surveys...). I think they're offering games to purchase for coins in Europe? That'd be nice.

I've been a platinum member the last two years.
