Forums - Microsoft - 360: "HUGE" news will keep it "Vibrant for many years"

will be a super slim 360 with a very cheap price, i predict it can be plugged into an XboxONE to play origional xbox and 360 games akin to being able to plug in your cable box into your XboxONE

i also predict it being £99 with a flash drive

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

$99 xbox

how will sony respond?

can they?

By releasing a next gen PlayStation that focuses on videogames, is my guess.

Maybe a price drop to $199. They don't really have to respond though. This gen is nearly over and its all about making profits, not gaining marketshare.

I don't expect the $99 Xbox to have much of a sales spike outside of the holidays. Especially if the rumors of no optical drive are true.

and that will compete with a $99 360?

what an odd thing to say.

the ps3 is its competition...

I love how we think focussing solely on games will work in the home but we mostly accept that it doesnt work in handhelds now... especially when in the home the focus makes even less sense than it does in a handheld.  Its all just a little piece of history repeating itself.

Remember Vita... he fought hard....

lol past tense

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Yes. It will compete with a $99 360, just as it will be competing with the Wii U, the PS3 and the Xbox One.

Theyre all competing with eachother. The Vita is competing with the PSP right now, as well as the iPhone.

Dedicated gaming handhelds arent doing too great now because its a totally different market. With handheld gaming, you have direct competition from mobile phones, something you carry around with you at all times and is capable of playing games. You have a £400 piece of hardware in your pocket that is capable of playing videogames of all shapes and sizes.

With a videogames console the priority is videogames. Its not apps. Its not watching TV. Its not browsing on the Internet. Its videogames. The rest is an afterthought.

This was said yesterday I think, people just chose to ignore it for whatever and decided that Microsoft is going to abandon the 360 like it was with Xbox even though the scenarios aren't even remotely similar.

Microsoft and Third Party aren't going to abandon a ship with 77M consoles.

In terms of quality exclusive games, Microsoft abandoned 360 a while ago... it makes perfect sense to worry about the system's future. And let me tell you, this so called "huge announcement" will turn out to be a "huge disappointment" I wouldn't raise my hopes high.

Plenty of quality exclusives, people just pretend they don't exist. It's also about 3rd party.

If you think X360 support is going to stop immediately, you're in for a dissapointment.

Plently of quality of exclusives?

How many exclusives this year?

How many quality...non kinect/shovelware/exclusives last year? A halo and forza game. Big surprise.

How about 2011? Not many then either. Mainly just Halo, Forza and gears of war.

Lets go back even to 2010... Halo, and fable.

and that excludes games also on PC btw. Since its techniqually not an exclusive if I can play it without XBOX 360.

Since I don't like Kinect, Halo, forza or fable then I'm pretty much fucked as far as 1st party on Xbox.

Just lol. I'll refrain from wasting my time with someone who clearly has made his mind up.

Technically this would be a $100 price drop, right?

Man, I still can't believe it, it seems seriously hardball this late in the game. I understand the concern of the upcoming Wii U $100 price cut, but a $50 price cut to $150 compared to Wii U's $250 would still put Nintendo on the ropes.

I was expecting the PS3 Slim Slim to finally get that $50 price cut to $200, but at this rate I suppose they'll have to follow suit with $100 off just to keep up with the new 360.

It just seems strange, like they're trying to destroy their own next gen launches. $50 would've been enough for both as far as luring away potential Wii U buyers without harming their own launches too much.

they cant afford it... actually... thats never stopped them before.

If Microsoft can afford a $100 drop to $99, I can't imagine the PS3 can't afford a $100 drop to $150.

What they can't do is match a $99 price tag, but they've never attempted to match the 360 price, always just a little over.

It just seems strange for both of them, though. They're still selling gangbusters at practically pure profit. After this drop, they wouldn't be making much I dont' think.

I haven't seen the leaks!

But I guess some sort of Apple TV competitor mostly aimed as a Netflix/catch up TV device might be a good idea? As well as an obviously super cheap console

But the Xbox is already $100 cheaper than the PS3 in NA, why not just go down to $150?
