Forums - Microsoft - 360: "HUGE" news will keep it "Vibrant for many years"

Btw Don Mattrick said “If you’re backwards compatible, you’re really backwards,” and said they don't plan to spend money to play older games.

The huge news will be a software update for the console that allows all new and perhaps many past games to carry the same sort of play once and pay to play everywhere else mentality that Xbox One has. The trade off will be that they games can be saved to HD and even cloud downloaded again if associated with their account.

People will have no choice about it since they need access to Xbox live for just about everything. They will also require the software update to run the Xbox 360 versions of the next round of games coming out that were shown for Xbox One. So they 360 version of Ghosts and other games will lock to the Xbox 360 console.

So all the wonderful Xbox supports will pay for the game. Pay for the DLC. Pay for the right to play it used or on a friend's console. Pay to play online. Pay to use their Xbox for television functions, etc.

$99 XBox mini at E3. I think it's pretty much the worst kept secret in the business right now.

If this doesn't prove MS wants to keep supporting the 360, I don't know what will.

XBLA will still be supported by MS, but in essense, redesigning and continuing to sell the thing is the strongest form of support for any product over 8 years old.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

They are going to release it in pink.

We've seen the leaks Phil, it won't surprise people.

I could go for a XBox360 mini with a $99 price tag.

This was said yesterday I think, people just chose to ignore it for whatever and decided that Microsoft is going to abandon the 360 like it was with Xbox even though the scenarios aren't even remotely similar.

Microsoft and Third Party aren't going to abandon a ship with 77M consoles.

In terms of quality exclusive games, Microsoft abandoned 360 a while ago... it makes perfect sense to worry about the system's future. And let me tell you, this so called "huge announcement" will turn out to be a "huge disappointment" I wouldn't raise my hopes high.

Plenty of quality exclusives, people just pretend they don't exist. It's also about 3rd party.

If you think X360 support is going to stop immediately, you're in for a dissapointment.

Awesome! This will mean I will probably not buy a next generation console for another 2 years.
