MS will achieve this price especially because of the rumored redesigned chip. |
What!? They can make that price point but it would be best to just drop it by $70

WHAT!? lol where have you been for the last 5 years? Your final sentence answers your first sentence. Who needs their console to profit most? and who has a paid for online service? |
I don't know, you tell me. The 360 has paid off it's own debt unlike the PS3, but is now working on paying off the 2.4 billion accrued from the first Xbox. Do you know specific numbers for both? I bet they're both around a billion total debt for division overall.
Good chart btw, consider that 2001 and 2002 had even bigger losses to 2003.

?? Omg!!
=O!

I've been saying that MS will support the 360 well after the Next Xbox releases for years now.
It was quite obvious that they would/will continue to support it, only people completely oblivious to how business works would say otherwise.

In that case, the PS3 has been profitable since, what, 2010 was it?
That's a dumb way of looking at it. Investors aren't going to be all that happy over these profitable years when these divisions have lost 3 billion and 5 billion respectively more than they've ever taken in... Or at least for the last decade, I suppose considering 2001 and 2002, Xbox division would be even more than 3 billion.

Of course Im correct, but I never said that there would be dedicated gaming hardware from the competition. I said the competition would focus primarily on videogames.
Yes, theyre competing for the same consumers. Theyre competing for people who want to buy a games console. What matters is, theyre competing for (or should be competing for) the attention of gamers first and foremost.
When the Xbox One is out, do you really think Microsoft will care about how the PS3 is doing? And vice-versa?

Do we know that the new console is going to be $99 and not $149? Also, as I've pointed out in the past price cuts don't really matter as much when you've reached saturation. Hence why the DS 2010 price cut and both Wii's 2011 and 2012 price cuts had almost no real effect.
