Makes perfect sense.
I also suspect Sony has also agreed to it. Alternatively maybe they haven't and thats why EA announced an exclusivity partnership with Microsoft?

You're probably right and the real solution is that the particular Live account its tied to must just exist on the console, not be the one currently logged in. i.e. its still shareable on same console or one that you log into. This is actually reinforced by their talk today about the cloud usage and how the games (and other content) go wherever you are. I think this ties into the idea that the full game is installed on your Xbox and a digital version is automatically unlocked for future download if needed. Thereby making the disc irrelavent. |
I am just assuming it follows what happens for current downloadable content on both consoles. You can download it to multiple consoles (but a limited number) on your account and anyone can play it.
I think they are just copying Steam. You buy a game and get a code with it, which unlocks a copy which you can download to your console (or others) and then can install from the disc and leave it on the side forever. From that perspective, you can see why they want to block used games.

For once Nintendo's online attitude isn't looking too bad... |
Nintendo's attitude is very noble and consumer friendly.
It seems to me that Sony don'tt want this, but won't risk losing all support from EA.
The "Leave it to the publisher" strategy from them makes sense now.
EA are one company, you shouldn't bow to that little pressure. Sony better not betray us Playstation fans and follow the Xbox
Xbox One, PS4 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch will sell better than Wii U Lifetime Sales by Jan 1st 2018
I've never thought I'd see the day that EA becomes worse than Activision or Ubisoft, but this is just way too much.
I also like the fact that Infinity ward said multiple times on that trailer "We're focusing on making the games fun" , which is something EA doesn't seem to get with their new Medal of Honor and Battlefield.

Sony already indirectly confirmed this.... back in March. See thread for sources.
EA really want to control the market. Apart from Dead Space EA is shit. They do more harm than good to the industry.

Yep totally agree.
I sincerely hope that Nintendo doesn't let something like this be the reason they lose out on 3rd party support. In the end, a used game is still available at a likely discounted rate.
But it would mean Nintendo would have to hurry up with the capability of logging into another person's WiiU with your NNID so you can share games with each other easily. Even it its only a limited number of hardware.

Than we must continue from where we stopped with Sims. it is not accepptable to be lied=no more online pass and then just get something worse. I never believed in the Nintendo/Origin Story as I don't think thatNintendo was so stupid to give away their online monopol for their console to someone else(on the other hand they did something similar with sony=psx, and abondend it in the last moment, and made sony angry) but with this it would make perfect sense. |
We all knew there was gonna be a backlash to it. Marcus Beer called it on his Annoyed gamer show.
