Forums - Nintendo - Metroid Prime 4:Extinction

i like alot of the ideas in this thread, but i will say this. A single player game with no narrative, is a game not worth playing. OtherM had some unesscecary dialogue, but i feel the prime series had next to none after establishing the premise.
With all that being said, we won't actually know if retro is even working on the next retroid until tomorrow at 10am. Personally i hope they are working on a new ip. I like me some fps, but i feel as if all the mainstay nintendo console franchises are best as 3rd person escapades.
Real quick to add my own metroid idea into the mix (sorry if someone mentioned this and i missed it.) I think it could be cool if you had to point the gamepad at the screen for some sort of scanning.

correction, we may or may not know tomorrow at 10am

. you waste to much time trying to scan everything (you need it for 100%)

Why would an optional mechanic be a core criticism of the game? 100% isn't really important unless you want it to be.

if one want 100%, it's boring as hell scaning everything. and even for those who are not completionists it's still necessary to scan things the whole time. it would be much better if scanning was in fact optional and didn't contributed to the 100 %.

But "wanting" 100% implies you are having fun doing it? If you don't enjoy that part there's no compulsion to do so. You still get the vast majority of what the game has to offer. Do you complain when it's impossible/boring to get 100% in an MMO or Zelda or Skyrim?

Honestly if that's the greatest complaint you have about a game, it's near perfect.

exploring and looking for power ups is fun, scanning every shit you see (including one chance only tings) is boring.

yes, I find that game near perfect, but needs less scanning focus.

BUT THE ONLY FOCUS ON SCANNING IS IF YOU WANT TO SCAN SHIT THERES NO REASON TO DO SO IF YOU DONT ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING

I'd actually like another Other M type game. Let people skip the cutscenes so people can ignore the story. Use the table controller as Samus' visor and I think we can make a great game.

I WANT 100% COMPLETION IN METROID GAMES, BUT I DONT WANT TO BE FORCED TO SCAN TONS OF SHIT TO GET THOSE 100%. AND THERE'S TOO MUCH SCANNING EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT A COMPLETIONIST.

You're so OCD that you're compelled to do stuff you don't enjoy doing just to make it say 100%, and then you can complain about it on the internet?

I can make you a Metroid fangame where you have to hit yourself in the face 10,000 times to make it reach 100%.

Retro Studio should work on a FPS , a battlefield like game, and forget that FPA thing.

are you trolling or you really didnt understand? I LIKE LOOKING FOR HIDDEN ITEMS IN METROID AND IT'S REWARDING GETTING A SECRET ENDING FOR REACHING 100%. I DON'T ENJOY SCANNING EVERYTHING IN ORDER TO GET 100%.

How would this game stand out in a marketplace overflowing with AAA FPS games? Do you not think there are enough already?
