Forums - Nintendo - Metroid Prime 4:Extinction

This is what im hoping Retro is working on.

Complete remake of Metroid 2 and takes place directly after Prime 3. Starts odf with a brief summary of events in the original Metroid and Prime Trilogy, then cuts to key members of the Galactic Federation discussing the threat of Metroids, coming to a conclusion that they must be exterminated and send in Samus to get the job done.

After that it shows Samus' ship landing on the Metroid homeworld, SR388. This planet is a huge, Skyrim sized open world with many different species of Metroid and other creatures.

Interesting ways to use the gamepad will be maps, weapon/upgrade management and various visors which can scan things seperate from the TV screen.

About 1/3 thru the game you witness the ship from the end of Prime 3 land in the distance. You go to investigate and see that its a Space Pirate. Assuming its there to use the Metroids for no good, you attack him. Midway through the battle an Omega Metroid attacks and the Space Pirate escapes. From this point on you use your scan visor to read messages ledt by the Space Pirate warning you to stop killing the Metroids. Ignoring these warnings, Samus continues her mission.

About 2/3 through the game another ship lands on the planet, this time a huge ship with hundreds of space pirates. A group of them ambushes Samus knocking her out. After waking up you find yourself hostage in there base camp and as there about to finish you off, the lone Space Pirate from earlier rescues you and the two of you team up to defeat them. When it looks like the battle is won, Ridley comes and kills the Space Pirate, you defeat him and continue the quest.

Your confused as to why the Space Pirate rescued you and find more hidden messages from him explaining why the Metroids are vital to keeping the planet in balance and are peaceful creatures. At this point you decide to abort the mission and leave the planet. As you begin take off, Adam Malkovich contacts you and demands you follow the Galactic Federations orders, not wanting to disapoint him you continue the extermination.

At this point theres only one Metroid left, the queen. After killing it ypu find one last message from the Space Pirate explaining the X parasite, which are much more dangerous and could fulfil the Mother Brains plot to control the galaxy, and hpw Metroids keep there population under control. After that you find the Metroid hatchling and spare it life.

I dont want a lot of narrative in it, most of the plot told through hidden messages like the Prime games (Other M had too much unnescesary dialogue). Also I want the game to have a Shadow of the Colossus vibe to it, as the game progresses you feel like your no longer the hero and killing innocent beings.

I don't, the Prime series was amazing, but it has run its course. I'd rather something new.

what do you suggest they do with the series, go back to 2D side-scroller? Other M style gameplay? Possibly behind the shoulder 3rd person?

I would be extremely disappointed if Retro Studio was back to the Metroid Prime serie. I was never able to enjoy these game.

Too much exploraton desert places or desert corridor, fighting a few space wasps, having to scan everything... I played the first game for around three hours and was so much disappointed I never touched the serie again.

Umm exploration has been one of the key ingredients of the series if you dont like exploration then you dont like Metroid. Plain and Simple.

Well personally they should just remake Metroid 2 as a 2D sidescroller for the 3DS and do something completely new for the Wii U outing. Metroid 2 so far is the only game without the space pirates and it should stay that way.

They really need to expand the Metroid brand by having a Galactic Federation type of spin off maybe focusing on soldiers of the Federation and making it an FPS well still making the main games of Metroid an FPA.
