$40k for a patch. Many DLCs require patches to work with the standard game plus additional costs to put up the DLC (needs to go through certification process). They probably can't afford to support the WiiU version for every new DLC. I guess if it's a bunch of DLC they will release it as some kind of special or GOTY edition later on.

360 version already saw two patches and from articles I've seen they are still working on a WiiU patch to fix the "exclusive" WiiU problems ? At least I haven't heard that the patch arrived.

Thats a pretty cool bit of information. Never knew that.

Anyway, Injustice Wii U sold less than 20,000 units Week 1 according to VGChartz while the PS3 and 360 versions opened up to 244,000 and 300,000 respectively.

Its possible that the Wii U version hasnt sold 40,000 units LTD. Hell, maybe even 30,000 units.

Is a userbase of 30-40k worth that patch cost, when the vast majority wont be buying the said DLC?

Well as I said they are indeed working on a patch, but that is supposed to fix some broken elements in the WiiU version (You know what would happen if they didn't try to fix it). Now they could add support for the current DLC within that patch, but that would be a one time thing.

Anyway the second point I was trying to make is that putting DLC on the system most likely costs money, just like arcade games (which is already confirmed) and patches (which is "now" confirmed as well).
Could be to ensure that the dev is not littering the service with shitty or overpriced DLC.

They knew this game will have small sales on such a small userbase. I'm still gonna buy the game for around $30 when its offered.

Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth
Just Dance 4

That's all I could find within a reasonable amount of time and without having access to the store. But it should be enough to answer your question.

Assassins Creed 3 also has DLC for the system. It was released a long time after the PS3 and 360 ones iirc, but it is there.

Yes a ton of games on Wii U have DLC.

Don't chicken out, support your team.

Meaning that you shouldn't buy this game at all.

Seems like a good game though and honestly, I very rarely buy DLC. Especially considering this DLC is just skins and crap. Unlike AC3 which has provided full wholly new levels and what not or Nintendo which will basically double the size of NSMBU.

thanks.  I thought for an instant, that it was a problem in nintendo's end, and not publishers.

well its not like the DLC is free

I'm sure that if they had time to put into porting the whole entire game to the Wii U, they should have time to port over some DLC. Can't be all that hard.

It might not be hard, but it is money.  Anything you do in business equates to money lost.  Time is a resource.  If you're paying your team to port over content then that's overhead cost, which must be measured against potential profit.  If there isn't an exceptable amount of profit potential then you simply don't waste your resources.  I don't know what the standard DLC buy rate is for fighting game content like this but I would hazard a guess that it's not all that high, and probably lower than average on Nintendo consoles.  The calculated rate of sale for this DLC on the Wii U might be relatively insignificant.

I know some people blame everything on a conspiracy, or publishers "hating" Nintendo, but most of the time it boils down to math.

Well said and basically what I'm trying to explain when people are asking why this publisher is not making a port for that console or why there is no sequel to a game that barely broke even.

Is it really worth it to allocate 50 employees for a sequel to Madworld/Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts/PS All-Stars, which make the publisher maybe $100k in profits, when they could join the bigger projects such as Bayonetta 2/Halo 5/Killzone Shadow Fall to get them out 6 months earlier ?

ahh right I even knew about that. Didn't see that with my short Google search though.

But by the time this game is $30, there will already be so many other third party games to buy... according to you.

lol... There are a lot of games coming. :P

However, I tend to be a late buyer as I can wait for a sale.

Yup, you are a miser. Ha, made you look!

Oh I'm definitely a cheap ass. Very few IPs get first day buys from me. Unless its launch where I just need games, however, even there I got NSMBU for free and sold all my other hardware and PS3 games to buy my WiiU launch stuff. Everything since then hasn't been for more than $35 (AC3).
