When PS4 launches, PS3 will already be at ~80m.

You're being pretty optimistic xD I doubt it will pass the 80m mark when the PS4 launches.

Third party support will still be pretty strong for the 360/PS3 as the Wii U is being kept at bay by last gen consoles. That and the PS3 still has exclusives coming up until the end of the year and probably beyond.

Huge support and it still hasn't passed 360 sales.

I'm not saying it will stop selling after the Ps4 is in the market; I'm just saying PS3 sales are lagging this late in the gen. I doubt it will reach 80 millions by when the PS4 is here; it will cross the mark later. And by that, it should be clear that the Wii is the sales winner of this gen, because I don't think it will cap its success.

Why would I have meant Nintendo?

Because Nintendo won the consoles war the seventh gen.

How could they have won when they dropped out of the race and the race is still ongoing?

Last week, I ran against Usain Bolt and he crossed the finish line way ahead of me. He stopped and sat on a bench but I kept running until I reached the finish line. Does this mean I won?

My first laugh of the day, thanks.

No thanks to me. If I didn't start this thread that joke wouldn't have happened.

Just Kidding. It's my pleasure to contribute some laughter to the vghartz community.

This year the PS3 has been the closest its ever been to passing the 360 with under a million consoles left. Chances are if it happens it happens before fourth quarter. Microsoft has nothing for it unless they unleash some killer app for the 360 at E3. In tandem they both are holding down the Wii because they are all offering basically the same games.

Sony lost the console war in NA. Microsoft lost the console war everywhere else?

But still, it wouldn't cross the 80 million mark.

They both will. Sony will still be supporting the console with actual first party even into next year, whilst Microsoft has nothing to show for it. Gears was the last major game they paid for to support it. The PS3 is going to have major legs from June to November because of the last of us. Beyond and other excess exclusives that havent come out that could be shown at E3 will be shown. Sonys first party ended in 2012, thus Sony is showing how efficient their first party scheduling is compared to Microsoft. Without any killer app to keep the PS3 at bay like the kinect did in 2011 through 2012 thats it.
