That wall of text is hard to read, walsufnir -_-

Yeah, I have no idea which post belonged to whom...

Of course walsufnir was talking with itself

Anyway from what I get the Wii U CPU is similar to Wii CPU and the Wii games just run fine over the Wii U CPU but the GPU is another case the Wii U GPU have the Wii GPU inside... so the Wii games run in Wii U because the CPU is similar and the Wii U have the full Wii GPU included in the package.

For emulation you can use all the work done with Wii CPU and added the new instructions and code to support the Wii U CPU but for GPU they will need a lot o work for Wii U Games.

In that case I think the 360's GPU is less custom than the Wii U's GPU... so maybe the work with the 360's GPU is a little easy than with Wii U's CPU... the PS3 is a hell of problem due the Cell... not the Cell itself but the SPEs.

That what I think.

Guys, don't make fun of me :)

I editet the text ;)

Oh great. More excuses for third parties to use when their games flop.

Wii U hardware sales explosion confirmed.

Here in Brazil the system will sell...

Most of my friends bought a PSP because it was so easy to get pirated games.

If the WIi U ends up being so hackable then the Wii U sales will go up quite a bit. Now Nintendo will have to rush out that firmware update and focus on hardware profitablility, because software sales are going to hurt a bit.

But like I said, systems could sell a lot better. I know it is one of the main reasons PSP sold so damn well.

It's just that simple.

people don't buy the wii u because there is no software

-no software=no software for costumers= no software for pirates.

what i don't understand.the wii u has far more power than the 3ds but was hacked in a shorter period.I always thought:the more powerful a system, the harder to hack.Seems I was wrong.

I hope they can just update their firmware to prevent a Wii like situation all over again...piracy is never good !

I beg to differ, my friend.

Piracy on consoles have little impact, except for maybe the PSP.

Dreamcast in the US says hello.  The PSP actually made it through an entire generation.  The Dreamcast not only stopped production in western companies because of piracy, it is one of the reasons that Sega is a third party developer now rather than a console developer.  Yes, it's one among the many reasons, but it is a major reason.  Dreamcast was the easiest system to pirate by far, just as long as you had a CD burner.

Also, piracy doesn't have little impact.  For niche developers who won't get very many sales to begin with, piracy hurts those companies less, but in a way more.  While Activision has more people pirate Call of Duty, they can still support their company even with the losses, but a niche developer that already puts a lot of money into development and localization costs might end up losing money since the piracy might cut in on the small amount of sales they're getting in the first place.

@Kupo

I just checked the sales for the PSP looks like it did do well all things considered, and tbh Piracy helping kill the Dreamcast is arguable.

Soon, there will be a way to pirate Wii U software and that's not going to sit well with the poor Wii U sales. I like hacking only if it won't hurt the console. Technically, you can't really buy Wario Land for Virtual Boy so emulating is my second option since I'm broke. I'll never pirate new games even though pirating in general is horrible but its just too good to pass up. My Wii has gotten a ton of play time now that I have the Homebrew Channel. If Nintendo doesn't cough up the Gamecube and GBA games on Wii U then I'll also have no choice.

Wow, that was inappropriate. Hackers, there's just no stopping em'. Seems like Nintendo just wants to get hacked though. With XBOX 720 and PS4 adapting an x86 type structure I can only help but wonder what hackers will do with it.

"The Wiikey team, a team responsible for the most popular design of chip for early wii drives and also the xenogc for the gamecube, has made a post on their site saying they have a chip coming out for the wii U.

Not much information is available at present but they claim it is a drive emulation driven hack (sometimes known by the initialisms ODE and ODDE) and will load from USB, presumably the USB on the chip itself. Such an approach is not new with examples later on in the Wii's lifetime and more recently it also got a following in the 360 though it all has its roots in the gamecube.
How well Nintendo can defend against it depends a lot upon how the Wii U is designed but as little information is available on that front, or indeed any front, we can not elaborate much further at this point. However from what has been said it is unlikely it will allow for true region free without any further hacks unless Nintendo made a similar mistake to the one that led to the partial Wii region free (unlikely). Being a drive emulator that also means no native homebrew, probably no downloadable content and no modified games without further hacks."

Similar to how the Xbox360 is "hacked"

No homebrew, no mods? I'm not interested.

Yes, I know two people who own hacked psps too...

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.
