Well Sony made 12 90+ games for the PS3, whereas Nintendo only made 8 for the Wii. 5 of the PS3 games were new IP for this generation, while 0 of the Wii ones were. If Nintendo want to be known for having the best quality IPs, then they are going to have to do more than evolve the same formula.

You're using metacritic as the sole support for your argument.

Do you see where you went wrong?

What would you recommend I use to judge game quality then? Plus whatever you use to judge I doubt anyone can claim Nintendo brought more great new IP to the Wii than Sony did to the PS3.

If Nintendo made a new IP in the scope of Zelda, Halo, or Metroid Prime and it was targeted a bit more at older players, and really utilized the Wii U's chipset -- that would shock the hell outta me, lol. Outside of X, which is basically Xenoblade 2 from the looks of it.

So SMTxFE, The Last Story, Zombiu, Bayonetta 2 and Project X like you already stated do not interest you or older gamers?

Nintendo didn't make those but Project X counts as first party since they bought the compay. Much like Microsoft they leave the outside creativity to third parties. They keep first party business the same as usual. Make new games and reskin them with old characters as a selling point.

Okay, I have to admit that I'm curious. What criteria are you using for a game to be considered first party?

LOL...First party is first party. Its a game made by the company themselves or a subsidiary that they own.

In that case then all Halos except for Halo 4, Gears of War, Project Gotham, Journey, Ratchet and Clank, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, White Knight Chronicles, Dark Cloud, Rogue Galaxy, Heavenly Sword, Resistance, the old Spyro games and many others aren't first party.

Time for adjustments I guess.

Most of those games are second party and third party. All the Halo's and Heavenly Sword are first party because they were made while the companies were under ownership of MS and Sony. Sony themselves have still made more new IP's than all the other companies. Insomniac was second party to Sony as Rare was to Nintendo. That make sense?

Ninja Theory was never owned by Sony, Bungie become independant (again) at the same time Halo 3 was released.

Wrong. Ninja Theory was owned by Sony until Heavenly Sword figures didnt come in positive.Bungie left Microsoft after Halo Reach.

so Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem didn't surprise anyone...? some memories here are short....

That was surprising to me.

also Yoshi's Yarn game looks also totally different then Kriby's Epic Yarn. People love to bitch about the same characters and forget the art styel, aestethics, gameplay mechanics. And still nobody bitches about the first party games from other companies.

Welp after seeing Metroid Prime announced years ago? I don't think Nintendo can surprise me much more.
Metroid Prime was the reason I bought a Gamecube, as well as the biggest shock Nintendo has ever given me.

It's just that simple.

"On October 1, 2007, Microsoft and Bungie announced that Bungie was splitting off from its parent and becoming a privately held Limited Liability Company named Bungie LLC."

"In May 2005, Ninja Theory were on the verge of becoming defunct due to the collapse of the gaming studio Argonaut Games; however, soon after the announcement was made, the BBC reported that Sony Computer Entertainment had signed them up to make an exclusive video game for the upcoming PlayStation 3."

That game was Heavenly Sword. Signed != Bought.

Nintendo creates a new style for the same characters to keep them fresh. Sony creates new IP's instead of changing what made a game great.

You don't consider a sequel to Link to the Past a surprise?

The first game was like... twenty years ago. People have been clamoring for a new old-school top-down Zelda for like nine years now. Ever since Minish Cap.

How on earth is that announcement not a surprise?

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

I think Nintendo do everything just perfect!! I can't keep up with all the new 3DS games that are being released. Just when I thought I purchased my last game for a while they announce Mario and Luigi: Dream Team and Animal Crossing will be coming out in August!!
