Is Nintendo even able or willing to surprise anymore?

They are not able to 105 25.30%

They are not willing to 65 15.66%

You suck, they still are 244 58.80%

Total:414

I'm glad there doing this. If people keep buying them, then why the hell not? they sell millions.

so Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem didn't surprise anyone...? some memories here are short....

That was surprising to me.

also Yoshi's Yarn game looks also totally different then Kriby's Epic Yarn. People love to bitch about the same characters and forget the art styel, aestethics, gameplay mechanics. And still nobody bitches about the first party games from other companies.

Characters are characters. Those new styles should be attributed to newer characters so that they can harness them setting newer standards for newer generations. Theres really no identity to just reskinning games. Its all filler until Nintendo makes a heavy hitter, which are actually fewer than one might think.

Pullblox...another kid focused platformer. How un-Nintendo...

I completely agree. It's a crappy platormer. You could easily find a better platformer on iOS for less than a buck.

Tsss, Galaki. It was a question. Now go and answer it.

So instead of answering simple questions you'd rather avoid it and then mock it....Claiming a game is original and then not being able to defend that claim is pretty attrotious dude.

I wasn't mocking you. I was agreeing with you. Impossible to satisfy you? Even agreeing?

No worries, it's okay - I was replying to Mnementh. I agree that the mobile gaming market is quite diverse and offers a high quality of games for only a few bucks.

If Nintendo made a new IP in the scope of Zelda, Halo, or Metroid Prime and it was targeted a bit more at older players, and really utilized the Wii U's chipset -- that would shock the hell outta me, lol. Outside of X, which is basically Xenoblade 2 from the looks of it.

So SMTxFE, The Last Story, Zombiu, Bayonetta 2 and Project X like you already stated do not interest you or older gamers?

Nintendo didn't make those but Project X counts as first party since they bought the compay. Much like Microsoft they leave the outside creativity to third parties. They keep first party business the same as usual. Make new games and reskin them with old characters as a selling point.

Yep i agree Nintendo has absolutely no creativity at all. I have never seen them think outside the box, they have never dared to be different and they have never introduced any industry standards. Fuck Nintendo, dem copy cats.

Thank god for Sony. They got modnation racers, Uncharted, Playstation Move, trophies, analoque sticks, rumble feature, first wireless controller and Playstation all stars battle royale. Sony leading the industry while everyone else follows.

Im not ignorant or completely bias.

how ignorant can someone be. Characters don't change the game. Would it really make a difference if it would have another character? i don't think so. you are just looking for reasons why Nintendo "sucks" nowadays.

New characters are risky as hell too. They don't sell anywhere near as well as an established IP....that's the only change that would come from new characters, lower sales. Much lower. If they come up with an idea that cannot be put into another franchise great, but if not they shouldn't just make one for the hell of it. Prince Puff was originally going to be the star of Epic Yarn, but the character looked so much like Kirby anyway it made sense to change it and have Puff as a sidekick.

I get the feeling that if Nintendo did create a new character that could be easily replaced with one of their IP's, people would just say "Why didn't they just make this a [Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, Kid Icarus, Ice Climber, Fire Emblem, DK, Kirby, Yoshi, etc] game instead?" Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

With the announcement of the new 3DS Zelda and previously Animal Crossing, Zelda OoT 3D, Zelda Wind Waker HD, Donkey Kong Country, and many more, which are all practically remakes: what does this say about the direction Nintendo has taken? Just about every Nintendo game lately harkens back to the olden days. I know some people will love it but remember the N64? Nintendo was miles beyond any developer at that time, with games that were absolutely mindblowing, cutting edge and just perfect. Playing Nintendo games now feels like a trip down to memory lane. And it bores me to death.

Is this a case of unable or unwilling to blow people's minds? 'Cause the last time I was blown away by a Nintendo game was Super Mario Galaxy, which was truly innovative and clever. Almost everything after seems like polished up old games.

I hear you load and clear but its hard to reinvent the wheel and make groud breaking changes!!!! The 64 was a glorious time for gaming because everything went to true solid 3d, so there were many amazing new experiences on 64 mario64,zelda oot, goldeneye and so much more!!Hell the introduction of so many four player games was amazing!! Graphics and gameplay will never change like that again, literally you could spend hours walking around staring at nothing in mario and zelda and still be entertained.Remember in mario 64 climbing trees just to do a hand stand and jumping off, I would never spend time doing that for as long as I did back then in a new game because now Im used to 3d and the mechanics that comes with it.With that system new gameplay was almost easy to come by, not so much now they have to think harder . Games have wowed since but not in the revolutionary volume of the 64!!!Games since then - gamecube -Metriod prime, Resident Evil 4 -metriod was not the first fps but it was the first to play the way it did the jumping and grahpics were amazing and the idea of walking into the room and you see no one and have to hunt them down with your vizors was crazy ingenious I love this game right there with m64 and z oot,and re4 made the 3rd person shooter craze what it is today and surpised all!!! Wii - WII sports - Mario Galaxy, everyone brings up mg and not much talk on wii sports but it was more amazing than mario just in smaller package and definitely changed gaming forever!!!! So there are the suprise titles since the 64 era " hope i didnt forget any " and yes there will be a game changing title but it will be few that can achieve it with so much already done and acomplished! Also nintendo land has a few wow moments if you have tried it but keep the faith gems will come! Im a hardcore nintendo fan love my wii u when its all said and done probably more than the 64, and all my post are from my wii u gamepad!

The only surprise I see is FINALLY the localization of Bravely Default
