Okay, I have to admit that I'm curious. What criteria are you using for a game to be considered first party?

LOL...First party is first party. Its a game made by the company themselves or a subsidiary that they own.

In that case then all Halos except for Halo 4, Gears of War, Project Gotham, Journey, Ratchet and Clank, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, White Knight Chronicles, Dark Cloud, Rogue Galaxy, Heavenly Sword, Resistance, the old Spyro games and many others aren't first party.

Time for adjustments I guess.

Most of those games are second party and third party. All the Halo's and Heavenly Sword are first party because they were made while the companies were under ownership of MS and Sony. Sony themselves have still made more new IP's than all the other companies. Insomniac was second party to Sony as Rare was to Nintendo. That make sense?

Ninja Theory was never owned by Sony, Bungie become independant (again) at the same time Halo 3 was released.

Wrong. Ninja Theory was owned by Sony until Heavenly Sword figures didnt come in positive.Bungie left Microsoft after Halo Reach.

"On October 1, 2007, Microsoft and Bungie announced that Bungie was splitting off from its parent and becoming a privately held Limited Liability Company named Bungie LLC."

"In May 2005, Ninja Theory were on the verge of becoming defunct due to the collapse of the gaming studio Argonaut Games; however, soon after the announcement was made, the BBC reported that Sony Computer Entertainment had signed them up to make an exclusive video game for the upcoming PlayStation 3."

That game was Heavenly Sword. Signed != Bought.

Halo as we know it (before he was bought away from Apple) therefore making it first party. Regardless of whatever time the teams left it will always be first party. Heavenly Sword is a first party IP, but I see your point that Ninja Theory was never owned by Sony.

Super Smash Bros will be made by Namco but it will still be a first party game for Nintendo.

@OP -Everyone better hope so, or Sony won't have anyone to copy off of anymore. :P

I can't wait until Smash Bros., Zelda, Mario Kart, and Zelda are shown at E3 and put on retail shelves to shut these people up. This is all they converse about! How Nintendo is so stupid, how they can't make innovative games, how their Wii U sucks eggs. The PS4 and Xbox 720 won't launch with the greatest games in the world either. I think Nintendo is really putting their all into their first HD game series ever. I think that all four of the games I just listed will make me wet myself once I see them let alone play them. Just because NSMBU isn't as "NEW" as it claims, Nintendo will shine at this year's E3.

"which are all practically remakes"

Please got read something about the Zelda announcement before making threads about it.

First party is such a tricky thing, especially when a company wants to expand.

I just pointed how completely wrong you were. If we compare the quality of IPS between nintendo and sony, we all know who wins. The difference between Sony and Nintendo - is that Nintendo knows how to make a winning formula and continue to evolve them through decades, Sony in the other hand will experiment with new IP's some will fail and some will be succesfful and continue on (i.e god of war, uncharted, gran turismo). Quality over qauntity and no doubt Nintendo has the qaulity

Well Sony made 12 90+ games for the PS3, whereas Nintendo only made 8 for the Wii. 5 of the PS3 games were new IP for this generation, while 0 of the Wii ones were. If Nintendo want to be known for having the best quality IPs, then they are going to have to do more than evolve the same formula.

OP: I think they are able but unwilling. They realise that they can make great games and have guaranteed sales if they push a game into one of the main franchises. However this is limiting the creativity to some extent. Given how amazing and fresh a game like Super Mario Galaxy can be when they are still tied to Mario, I would love to see what they can do when they start from scratch. I think they have the talent to set the bar, but while they are unwilling and playing it safe with remakes they won't.

Where did you get that 5 number?

Twilight princess

skyward sword

metroid prime

super mario galaxy

super mario galaxy 2

super smash bros brawl

xenoblade chronicles

5 is the new IP Sony made for the PS3 that got 90+. The 8 is the Wii games you listed (except I counted Metroid Prime 3 and Trilogy separately). But my original point was that new IP made it 12 - 8 rather than 7 - 8, showing putting effort into creating new IP will give you the edge over the competition. I was demonstrating that when you say Ninendo has quality over quantity, Sony is shown to be currently leading in that respect, and this is only because of new IP.

But i was'nt talking about Wii vs PS3 only situation in my original posts was I? Having a good metascore is not the only measurement of qaulity. It may include relevance, whether it is a household name and how well it sell.  I'll do what you did and use metacritic as a qaulity measurement. Lets compare Nintendo highest rated game vs sony. Who wins?  Lets compare which company has the more recognizable IPs. Who wins? Lets compare how well the IPS can sell a console. Who wins? Like someone posted earlier using metacritic as a qaulity measurement was your mistake

Pullblox...another kid focused platformer. How un-Nintendo...

I completely agree. It's a crappy platormer. You could easily find a better platformer on iOS for less than a buck.

Tsss, Galaki. It was a question. Now go and answer it.

So instead of answering simple questions you'd rather avoid it and then mock it....Claiming a game is original and then not being able to defend that claim is pretty attrotious dude.

I wasn't mocking you. I was agreeing with you. Impossible to satisfy you? Even agreeing?

No worries, it's okay - I was replying to Mnementh. I agree that the mobile gaming market is quite diverse and offers a high quality of games for only a few bucks.

dude he fooled you, Pullbox is a puzzle game

It's a platformer with puzzle elements no?
