I just pointed how completely wrong you were. If we compare the quality of IPS between nintendo and sony, we all know who wins. The difference between Sony and Nintendo - is that Nintendo knows how to make a winning formula and continue to evolve them through decades, Sony in the other hand will experiment with new IP's some will fail and some will be succesfful and continue on (i.e god of war, uncharted, gran turismo). Quality over qauntity and no doubt Nintendo has the qaulity

Well Sony made 12 90+ games for the PS3, whereas Nintendo only made 8 for the Wii. 5 of the PS3 games were new IP for this generation, while 0 of the Wii ones were. If Nintendo want to be known for having the best quality IPs, then they are going to have to do more than evolve the same formula.

OP: I think they are able but unwilling. They realise that they can make great games and have guaranteed sales if they push a game into one of the main franchises. However this is limiting the creativity to some extent. Given how amazing and fresh a game like Super Mario Galaxy can be when they are still tied to Mario, I would love to see what they can do when they start from scratch. I think they have the talent to set the bar, but while they are unwilling and playing it safe with remakes they won't.

Where did you get that 5 number?
