Is Nintendo even able or willing to surprise anymore?

So SMTxFE, The Last Story, Zombiu, Bayonetta 2 and Project X like you already stated do not interest you or older gamers?

Nintendo didn't make those but Project X counts as first party since they bought the compay. Much like Microsoft they leave the outside creativity to third parties. They keep first party business the same as usual. Make new games and reskin them with old characters as a selling point.

Okay, I have to admit that I'm curious. What criteria are you using for a game to be considered first party?

LOL...First party is first party. Its a game made by the company themselves or a subsidiary that they own.

In that case then all Halos except for Halo 4, Gears of War, Project Gotham, Journey, Ratchet and Clank, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, White Knight Chronicles, Dark Cloud, Rogue Galaxy, Heavenly Sword, Resistance, the old Spyro games and many others aren't first party.

Time for adjustments I guess.

Most of those games are second party and third party. All the Halo's and Heavenly Sword are first party because they were made while the companies were under ownership of MS and Sony. Sony themselves have still made more new IP's than all the other companies. Insomniac was second party to Sony as Rare was to Nintendo. That make sense?

Ninja Theory was never owned by Sony, Bungie become independant (again) at the same time Halo 3 was released.
