Forums - Sony - Will Capcom find their void filled if they decide to bring Monster Hunter to the Vita?

I doubt it. There have been several Monster Hunter clones on PSV and all had lackluster sales so far, even Soul Sacrifice which was supposed to be a gamechanger hasn´t sold 200k units yet. Actually it´s more wishful thinking on Sonyfans side than anything else right now.

It could be the case, but why take the risk when you can guarantee sales on the 3DS side?

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

What feuds?

Companies are soles businesses they don't have grudges. The reason it isn't coming to VITA is because there is not enough financial benefit to put it on the VITA.

Monster Hunter will come to Vita, it's all but inevitable; even the 360 got a Monster Hunter game.

really? never heard about

The Monster Hunter fanbase has largely migrated over to 3DS. It was inevitable, the MH franchise was essentially the last major 3rd party exclusive to jump from the sinking ship that is Sony handhelds.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Whether it's on Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo consoles, the games are merely decent. Hype is the entire reason the series is widely talked about now.

To answer the question though, I don't think their return to Sony has any factor whether they sell or not. There might be other Monster Hunter style games, but the games are in the same genre and nothing more. The games really aren't all that similar in gameplay, so if you liked Monster Hunter, there's no guarantee you'd like Ragnarok Odyssey or vice versa. A fan of one series could just as well like both and continue to purchase both.

With as many 3DS consoles sold, I'm pretty surprised though that Monster Hunter 3G didn't sell more. Most of us knew that it wasn't going to sell in the west. It caused a very slight sales spike but immediately dropped back down. But in Japan, even after being out for over a year, it's still yet to hit two million sales.

No one knows if a Vita version would sell well or not, though. There's no evidence to prove it would sell poorly other than the current Vita sales. No one really knows why 3G didn't sell as well as previous games, though some might argue that the 3DS sales are the reason Everything we say on either subject would be nothing more than speculation.

No, different games, as kupomogli says. That said, they probably try to target a void that MH left - and that is a good thing. Now we see more interesting games. Ragnarok and SS are interesting games that might bring me to buying a Vita. And interesting games are what we gamers need. so if the abscense of MH on Vita is the reason we see this games - then it was a good thing in a way.

Void? 3DS is filling it just fine

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Would be nice to have MH on the Vita, of course. It might happen, as said above, even the 360 had a MH game so why not Vita who has already matched 360's install base in Japan.

I've played MH3 on the 3DS and the graphics are terribad. Would look vastly superior on the Vita...

Why settle for a platform that has a piddly 1 million userbase total?

3DS is the only viable option for the big Japan-centric game franchises like Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest. It's the only one that actually has a user base and isn't like 8 years old.

Capcom doesn't give two craps about the Vita, they can't even be bothered to bring RE Revelations to it.

If you want to sell 2-4 million copies of a game it has to be on 3DS, its really just that simple.
