Honestly i think a lot of developers don't quite get that. They assume we buy games and game consoles because what else are we going to play or what else are we going to play them on?

The idea that people could just up and quit gaming if the corporate shenanigans grow to outweigh the fun doesn't really occur to them.


Thats why if anything ever happens to the industry that will just make it even more annoying, inconveniant, or just outright problematic to customers/gamers, I'm quitting gaming. Well maybe not, I'll I continue "retro" gaming (just not playing the latest games). Theres a whole back log of games you can find from the last 10-20 years depending on the rarity.

TBH I don't give a fuck about some MS Employee talking shit on twitter. What I do mind is that stupid idea existing in developers and corporations heads. I am not glad that he got fired I simply don't care. I am glad his words caused a shitstorm atleast Sony, Nintendo and MS know now that people don't like the idea.

That is starting to become true for internet, but slowly, far too slowly. Some municipalities in America are taking over laying and maintaining their own broadband networks and starting to treat internet access like a utility rather than a service in and of itself, so the day is coming


Thats good, but the day has to come everywhere and I guess that might take a while. Data caps have to go too and countries like Australia still pay per minute I think. Imagine if you play 5 hours Xbox and have to pay 5 Dollar to your Internet Provider for that.

I agree with *most* if his points, but not being able to play offline at all would be bad. I sometimes take my console over to my friends - they get to experience new things and we all play. Always on would end this in many places.

Plus, I've been without internet most of this week. I live in a major city, but we had problems this week, and not being able to play any of my games would make it even more frustrating.

I skipped Diablo III because of it's problems and canceled getting the new Sim City, because it was even worse. I started Tropico, and totally and unexpectedly happy with it.

So most of the time Always On wouldn't matter, but it might be enough to lead me to a different service. As it already has with other games.



 

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Well... if Cliffy B is going to have empathy for anybody... it's a loudmouth who totally said something he should of known better about.

His Sim City and Diablo points are good ones though. Fan complaints are treated as nothing more then jokes, because at the end of the day... the boycotts never work.

You made some good points but really, theres nothing to defend Orth over, Cliffy, STFU. Of course you would defend Microsoft and that loud mouth to the death. This is why Microsoft ignores gamers at E3, because they never aimed to listen to them in the first place.

Lesson to be learned:

Never piss off early adopters because it was them who put the 360 in the position it is in today. More than 70% of the Xbox 360 users came from the Playstation realm no doubt and they will switch sides at whatever suits them at the launch of the next level HD Twins. Dont fuel them and allow them to make an informed decision.
