but when does most=all? lets say 75% of people who bought Gears 3 played it for online or atleast SP co-op online. now with Gears 3 standing a 5.84 mil lets say Epic games decided that for their next gears they implemented online-only to play, assuming the the next gears would atleast match the numbers of Gears 3 atm; lets say the the other 25 percent had bought gears 3 for the SP(like me) or didn't have a steady internet to support "always online" didn't buy the next gears. that means epic could potentially lose 1.46 mil in copies for literally no reason... I think there's a rift that devs like Cliff don't see... he's needs to constantly be connected to hear feedback/test servers/ instal updates/ stay in touch with other devs and or different offices within/outside the company. and doesn't hurt that he's done well for himself, compared to the average joe who maybe doesn't have what it takes to have and always on or atleast online only device. |
Your 25% is just a wild guess and all a big 'IF'. And Cliffy B heard a lot of Doom in his years.

Dear Epic and Cliffy B.
First of all I wanted to say thanks for giving me a great times with your games and for listening all this years to your fans.
Sadly I can not say I am still happy and i am really sorry to know that my favourite company will go down fast.
Who's stupid idea is it to make Gears of war an Exclusive for Xbox 360? First of all it were the PC gamers that made Epic big and so you screw us
with making one major game exclusive for Xbox 360. I guarantee you that 90% of the Epic fans will not buy it. Pay to play it online on a console that will not sell? I really hope that after the game flopped you will still have enough money to make other games because I will be sad to see you go down.
Greets one of your biggest fans.
This is like one of the most civil reactions Epic and especially Cliffy got. He got a lot of hatemail some were treating his wife (while he was not married). And he totally proved them all wrong and made Gears of war one of the most biggest franchises of this generation... People go so far to get tatoos buy books and comics and maybe still a movie coming!!!
And you know what is sad? Cliffy felt sorry and made Gears of war also on PC later (people can fly made the port) and it sold horrible when the game was free to play online, had more story content and extra missions , more maps and even a map creator...
Cliffy B could easy laughed with the ones who said his Gears of war was going to be a failure, he could do it on a lot of occassions and he didn't. I feel very hard to disagree with him on plenty of occassions and I believe in him making an always online game a success.
