I was about ready to shoot off a response (much like what everyone else in this thread is saying) but then I decided to actually read what he said and having done so I think what he wrote was very reasonable and had plenty of good points.
I can see that most people here are only responding to the "always online; deal with it" statement.
EA said :sim city will be always on
people said:f@ck you EA.Sim city sales dropped.reputation was even more destroyed.EA voted worst compan.yRicitello was gone=deal with it.
and cliff?he always has a comment that sounds good while reading the first
time but turns out to be full of crap after analysing it.but i like him though i almost never share his opinion, because he is one of the few who really has an own opinion.

There's nothing much to talk about. I agree about the distasteful comments about Adam Orth, but that's about it. The problem I have with what Cliffy says after that.. telling people that always online is going to be an eventuality and for us to have deal with it is bullshit. We, as consumers have a choice. I'm sorry, but telling people to unplug once in a while and go on to say that we're all connected anyway is not a legitimate argument.
I am a bit sad he has left. While his comments were stupid, they were clearly his own and not MS's and minor enough (in spite of the outroar) that he shouldnt have had to resign.
I found Cliffy's article reasonable sensible - yes always online is the future and all that but as a single player gamer I dont need or want an always online console (in fact even if i do get one, I will still turn it off every night - as I do with my set top box and everything else) and while I am no doubt in a minority of gamers these days Im sure there are still millions of us running around making us more than just a fringe group.

That is starting to become true for internet, but slowly, far too slowly. Some municipalities in America are taking over laying and maintaining their own broadband networks and starting to treat internet access like a utility rather than a service in and of itself, so the day is coming

Honestly i think a lot of developers don't quite get that. They assume we buy games and game consoles because what else are we going to play or what else are we going to play them on?
The idea that people could just up and quit gaming if the corporate shenanigans grow to outweigh the fun doesn't really occur to them.
