Yeah having a 3D Mario would have been a far better show off for the system but I guess they figured this would be easier to have ported to the Gamepad and be more family friendly (also NSMB has sold better than 3d)

Sadly lots of people too stupid these days and need numbers to differentiate. otherwise MUCH more extensive advertising is needed.


Yep, Nintendo fucked up hard by being so lazy and conservative with NSMBU's production values, given that it's pretty much their flagship Wii U title.
Casuals can mistake it for NSMBW, and the hardcore are put off by its blatant laziness.
I'm sure everyone has been though a version of this before as a kid.

that's why they always switch the century from game to game, same game but looks totally different if you look at the cover (or backside)
