Forums - Nintendo - So I played the NSMBU demo at Walmart- Is it supposed to be nearly the exact same visual wise as the Original?

Well, Nintendo are new to HD development. Can't start with a friendlier franchise than New Super Mario Bros. Makes sense, just not particularly what they needed to launch the console.

I doubt most parents demo games to critique the visual improvements before buying.

Just playing with the pad would be different enough from the Wii.

I just looked at some vid for the wii version vs wii u and honestly I can barely tell the difference.

wow, the difference is almost...insulting. But to me the true slap in the face is the Upad doesn't sell the game any differently either, as it uses it in such an inconsequential way, and honestly, playing away from the screen in stream mode is not an earth-shattering feature either.

the sad thing is, that you can easily say that the levels are from the same game. its not just the graphics that look pretty much the same but the gameplay and level desgin is almost identical

Yeah having a 3D Mario would have been a far better show off for the system but I guess they figured this would be easier to have ported to the Gamepad and be more family friendly (also NSMB has sold better than 3d)

The Mario team just got done with 3D Land. It was either NSMB or no Mario game at all on launch day.

They just need a marketing push calling it "the new Wii" and people will get it. Wii U was a terrible name, but they can keep it if they change the marketing.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Well, it works for CoD

Cod is not dependant on moms and dads buying it for their kids. No matter what people say, Mario is more a kids game than for adults.

I have hardly ever played a game with such an immature story as Black Ops 2. I had to skip all the cutscenes in the last half of the game, I couldn't take it anymore. I am 29.

lol a "hard core" gamer at work didn't even know the Wii U is a new console until I told him a few days ago that I've been loosing sleep over Monster Hunter on it lol, so Nintendo gone and fucked up with the advertising for sure.

B-b-but its Nintendo HD!

I agree. Milking franchises isn't always bad.

...Wait, we aren't talking about Mario being milked?!
