8GB GDDR5 UNIFIED memory. This is the only RAM that is available to PS4 and is shared by eveything.(This is a positive thing in case you don't understand)

Yeah, got that from a previous post. I'm curious to see how the 8GB will be split up for high resource games, like how it will prioritize the lion's share of RAM in a scene with a ton of particle systems going, LOD, mutiple character models, physics, and everything else. There has to be some sort of pecking order as to who gets first dibs to the RAM resources.

I also would like to chime in that I am not so sure how possitive having only GDDR memory for all parts of the system is a good thing.  Latency will be an issue for pieces of the hardware that only work on a small bit of memory very fast compared to have a faster bandwidth.  It will be interesting to see how Sony and AMD have solved the latency issues or if they just compromised.  It could be that bandwidth was more important for overall game performance then CPU latency.

It's ironic how the tides have turned. Last generation the unified pool of GDDR memory was the evil by sony fanbase standards, and now it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. The flip flopping is amusing.

Care to support these claims by something tangible? It seems like you're just trying to stir shit.

I guess I need to copy paste what I said to you before, because you obviously didn't get it.

I'll get to my point, which is that I think you're bringing up demons from the past to try to paint current Sony enthusiasts on the site in a bad manner, which is quite disingenuous. If you mention that some people are being hypocritical in their behaviour or just acting a certain way, I feel you should at least back it up with some evidence, or it just results in you incorrectly labelling a whole group of people  currently using the site as something they are not. Which isn't a nice thing to do.

Oh come on that's just as good!  Considering the price of the GTX680:

$500.  And the price of the entire Playstation 4 alone is $400.  That's a pretty remarkable amount of detail.  A very minor loss of detail.  Plus consider that Epic Games didn't design it from the ground up for Playstation 4 - a radically different architecture from the PC.  Why not try porting Killzone 4 to the PC?  Far more detai would be lost!

You know the price of the PS4? For all we know it could be $99 or $999.

Just wondering guys svogi, and more particles on screen... Is it really needed? I was hoping that next gen would involve the evolution of gaming immersion through major physics and bigger worlds. For me next gen would be open world uncharted graphics in 1080p 60fps with battlefield like physics. I could do 30fps sp but mp has to be 60fps.

Tss, gameplay, are you a Nintendo fan or what?

Just kidding.

Ah, the same ridiculous doom as with the Nextbox always on. Some rumors or incomplete information will be used as a base of wild speculation and in the end ...Boom... we have Doom.

Calm down, that's nothing serious. In we end we know, that success of the device and the fun of games and all is not dependent on some random specs. And so far we only know about the specs, that Sony wants us to know. So calm down, it is much more important which games the PS4 will get than some particles in a beta-demo.

Im the only one that thinks GDDR5 and lack of eRam is gonna bite Sony in the ass?
Of course PS4 is going to be the most powerful system this upcoming gen, no doubt about it.

So both of you don't remember how the mantra was that having a very low latency main memory as XDR was the best thing? I know that defending a non unified memory pool is so last generation... But I'm sure that both of you know that if Sony would have decided to use a non unified memory architecture, that would be the good thing to do, most people here defend what their beloved company does, not what it would be the best thing to do.

Please, don't try to rewrite the history. Not so long ago it was a good thing that the PS3 was hard to develop for, because that way the best development teams woud do impressive games at the end of the generation, now it's a great thing to be a developers friendly console. Even Haz Kirai himself said so, and most people here defended that: http://news.cnet.com/sony-ps3-is-hard-to-develop-for-on-purpose/ and people defended that:
